What If Episode I

What if the Chipmunks Didn't Adopt Noah Right Away?

What if, though they let Noah live with them, the Chipmunks hadn't adopted him as soon as they did? What if, at first, he was just their friend? That is what this story is about.

It was a lazy morning at John F. Kennedy Elementary School. While the class waited for the teacher, an argument was underway. "For the last time, they are not my brothers! We're just good friends." 10 year old Noah Jagers said to his classmates when one of them asked if the Seville boys were his step-brothers. Simon, Noah's best friend, nodded. "Though he does live with us, he's just a friend in need." He said. Tiffany Marie Siesta, the Head Cheerleader, scoffed. "Oh, cut the crap, Simon. You've let him live with you for six months. We all know that you wanna adopt Noah. He's smart like you, he's a good cook like Theodore, and he has some sport skills like Alvin. He isn't badly built either."

Noah had to admit she had a point. His lean yet muscular chest was visible underneath his Los Angeles Lakers Jersey. Alvin, the oldest Seville boy, laughed. "We did offer to adopt him as our brother, but he declined." He said.

"Why the heck did you decline? Living the life of a rock star would be whack!" Jake Morris, Captain of the Chess Club said. "There's one problem. I can't sing." Noah said.

"You sure?" Simon said, pulling out his portable music player. Noah smiled as the song "Baby" by Finn the Human from Adventure Time started to play.

Baby, (Ooo) I know what you need. (What's that!)

You want your little baby socks.

For your little baby feet. (Whoo!)

Baby, (Yeah) I know what you crave. (Oh yeah, what's that.)

You want to poop your pants all day long.

Well, baby behave!

Baby, you lookin' so good.

You lookin' like you might, want some baby food. (Keep on goin' man!)

Baby, (Haha!) you lookin' so fine.

You're lookin' like you might, just start cryin'. (Haha, yeah!)

I gotta tuck you in, girl.

I gotta sing ya sweet melodies about babies, yeah. (Lil' baby feet!)

Noah finished singing and looked around at his classmates. They were amazed. "Wow. Noah Jagers, welcome to the band." Alvin said. "Thanks, but I must decline. I'm not one for a glamorous life." Noah said. Suddenly, an earthquake shook the school. "Everyone, under your desks!" Noah yelled. suddenly, the roof caved in and the rubble pinned Noah down by his leg. "Someone, help me! I'm stuck!" He yelled. But everyone was to scared to move. Theodore, the youngest of the Seville brothers, was praying like crazy.

Noah cursed. "I really wish there was another way, but I have to do it." He said, raising his left arm to the pile of rubble pinning down his leg. A green ring materialized on his middle finger. "No way." Alvin said as a green beam erupted from the ring and turned the rubble to dust. Noah looked at his classmates and smiled. "Green Lantern of sector 2814 at your service." He said. "That was friggin' amazing." Theodore said.

Later that week, Saturday to be precise, as Noah played Mortal Kombat in his room, Simon knocked on the door and came in. "Hey, Noah, can you come into the living room? The boys and I have something to tell you." He said. Noah sat down on the couch, across from his friends. "What's going on, guys?" He asked. "Well, we want to adopt you as our brother. All of us. You, Noah, are the missing link this family needs. You lost your parents when you were a baby. You need a family. And we really want you to be part of ours. What do you say?" Alvin asked. Noah smiled. "Ok." He said. "Then from this day on, you shall be known as Noah Jagers-Seville." Theodore said, hugging Noah.
