In Your Favor

New story idea! Reunion will be done in a couple of chapters, and this hit me the other day, and I wanted to give it a try. If you've never read the Hunger Games, I would suggest it before reading this, or at least a synopsis, because I'm not going to explain every detail.

One warning though, if you've read the Hunger Games, you know how it works. This is going to start angsty and end angsty. This first VERY small chapter is a preview for what is to happen. If you can't stand the idea of people dying, then I suggest just hittin the X at the top of your screen.

This is a Glee/Hunger Games Mash up, Brittana centric and will be told by a few different points of view. I want to get a feel for what people think before I continue, so let me know if this is an idea I should expand upon or if I should shut down now. Also, I won't update this again until Reunion is done!

Basic Disclaimer: I own nothing of Glee or The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins. This is strictly for entertainment purposes only! The title comes from the quote from the Hunger Games, "And may the odds be ever in your favor."

In Your Favor

Chapter 1
There's Only One Winner

In these games, there is only one winner; one person who is lifted from the arena and crowned a victor of this blood thirsty and horrible nightmare. A person who, against all odds, beat the other tributes by taking away the one thing they were all fighting for: their lives.

Some were much stronger than she. Most didn't believe that at the end of the 35th Annual Hunger Games, this would be the one whose name would be cheered for during the Victory Tour. The one whose face would grace banners and flags, strung along walkways for the people of Panem to see.

The citizens would see her in one of two ways: to some, she would be their savior, the girl who brought a year's worth of food and gifts to their district. To others, she was only one thing: A murderer. Even if it was not her weapon that caused the death blow to their loved one, she was the winner, therefore, she was the one to passionately and secretly hate, but publically adore.

To her, winning only added to her misery. She had everything she could ever need provided for her; food, clothing, a beautiful house for her and her family, but she couldn't have the one thing that she wanted. The one person who had made her time in the Games a little bit easier, a little less scary. The person who held her hand that night when the enemy was gaining on them, pulling her faster through the trees, almost like they were flying. The one who didn't let go of her hand well after they were safely hidden and the person who still clung to her even when the final cannon sounded.

In these games, there is only one winner, but in reality, there is never a true winner.

In the life of a Hunger Games Victor, there is no happy, there's only the ever after. And for this particular tribute, the hell of the arena was the only place she wished to be.

She willed herself to dream about it all again. About the girl she was forced to leave behind; her smile, her honest eyes, the feel of her hand in hers, this was what she wanted. But when she would wake from the dream, in the comfort of a soft bed, the feeling of the arena and the girl slipping away from her, she could only cry out and shut her eyes again, wanting to slip back into a restless oblivion.

It was usually during this moment between sleep and the real world when the phrase whispered to her in the arena passes through her mind; she was almost able to feel the breath on her ear and the hand wrapped around her own, her mind recalling almost perfectly the sound of her voice…

May the odds be ever in your favor…
