(KAI) I can't decide if I want to keep putting titles in all-caps, or just bold...
03-Aug-12: I tried to fix this.
HOMECOMING
He waited the forty-five minutes a deep sunset might take, as of a transference between cerise, honey, and gold, filtered in cream and blue. His eyes went black, anticipations met with the seconds of each minute passing by, irises dark as the road, the road as still as death.
Each pressed footprint of dust, crossing the empty road with abandon, went without trampling. The moments stretched and his limbs grew tense with sick worry- worry that shuddered inside as the cerise and cream of his affection grew later, later.
Blue eyes narrowed at the disquieting apprehension; at silk and rubies and absence. Sasuke was all these things, purely, painfully.
Without shame, Naruto huffed and growled, digging too-long, too-sharp fingernails into the tree branch while white, pearl-shine incisors worried at his lower lip- impatient as animals.
And for as long ago as that sunset had been, it seemed only moments before the rise of this morning. Shimmering behind the mountains before the fog was burnt apart, it hovered and broke the sky. A bloody, scarlet inkling, then the distressing red-orange of fading. Naruto's skin prickled with damp morning air, shivering under perked short hairs and a trembling that had begun in his shoulders- efforts to stay motionless thwarted by anxious imagination.
But then the sound, drifting first in spite of his desperate watching. Then the trudge of unconcerned feet. Unharmed. Gone and back again like the colors and the coolness of forty-five nights of miserable loneliness. Naruto sighed, relieved, and smiled.
