The Doctor hated funerals; they always seemed so miserable and depressing and instead of celebrating the person's life, they just cried because it was over, that didn't seem right in his eyes. Of course, he had never really needed to go to one before, he didn't need to be here, bit he wanted to be, paying his last respects.
To Rose, his Rose. His brilliant, clever, witty and beautiful Rose Tyler.
Of course he knew the truth, knew she was really alive, in another universe. But of course no-one else could know, only he knew, knew the truth. Sometimes he would wish he didn't know the truth, he thought it would be better that way, if she were dead, he wouldn't be thinking if she were happy or not, if she was thinking about her as much as he was about her, if she was living her life, like he would have wanted her to.
He stood there in the background, not wanting to be noticed by anyone who may recognise him, and stood at the back of the Church, of course there wasn't a burial; there was no body to bury in the ground. Of course, Rose would have hated all this, all the attention and everyone crying over her, she never thought she was important enough, but this, seeing such a vast amount of people, crying for her, proved how special she was, how amazing she was.
He watched as everyone stood around, crying over their long lost friend, this was the only place where he could too, except she was more than a friend, she was everything to him, he remembered about the time they were deserted on the impossible planet, he said the TARDIS was all he had, but that wasn't true, he had her, the one woman he could tell everything to, he didn't have to pretend, he was just happy with her. Suddenly, he noticed everyone moving, so he decided to make a swift exit, get away before anyone noticed him, but it was too late, someone had.
"Oi!" they yelled and the Doctor didn't look back and continued walking, he knew who it was, Shareen, Rose's best friend "Oi!" she yelled again and this time the Doctor turned "You not staying?" she asked and the Doctor shook his head "why not?"
"Got things to do," he replied, he was lying, but of course she didn't know that.
"Stay," she smiled "for Rose."
"I can't, I'm sorry." He replied once again, and flinched at Rose's name. "I've got to say my own goodbyes." He said and walked away, this time Shareen let him leave. The Doctor stormed over to the TARDIS and got ready to say goodbye to his Rose. And how better to do that than burning up the sun.
