The Reason is You.
There were moments like this that she wished would never end. Moments where everywhere she
looked he was there. Moments where she mattered to him. She stood by him thick and thin, fought beside him when others stabbed him, and while the awknowledged love of his life cheated on him. She stood there defending him. Every inch of her in on fire, every fiber of her being begging her to tell him so that she would have a chance, she didn't.
"Mione, explain to me again why I can't be out with Ron or Ginny right now." And of course, she had to come in the situation.
Hermione Granger stared longily into the jade eyes of Harry Potter. "Mr. Potter, I suppose you wish to simply fail NEWTs and never do anything for a living?" she was certain her smirk would mimick that of a Malfoy and her tone of the dissappointment of their beloved Professor McGonogal.
"Bloody hell! Where'd you learn to do that?" The ginger stepped into the room causing Harry's eyes to come off of her. His smile grew to a true genuine one, one she readily recognized as pure happiness. It was rare, but she was glad to see it more often now.
The two men conversed excitedly as she began reading once more. She wondered once more if she ever had a chance. The ginger... no the ginger was too much of a brother. Someone she depended on to be, well, childish and insecure yet strong in his own way. Someone she would help through everything, but he wasn't someone who would help her, he wasn't someone who would try to understand her.
As they waved and left Hermione was once more left alone in the once dreary Grimwuald Place.
"Merlin, if only. If only he really cared enough to look."
Later she would call her self foolish for even trying to rememeber when one night the voice of Sirius Black interrupted the very same thoughts. "He does, I swear love. He's just.."
"just into the pretty, I can handle anything and be completely sexy and unbookish at the same time type. I know Sirius. You know, you've been a great man. You, Remus, and believe it or not Severus. Once upon a time, well... I would have left long ago had I not known you guys. Thanks you."
Hermione Granger left to her room that night leaving a confused Sirius and a puzzle for Remus to solve. They didn't know when they would solve the puzzle, and for Sirius it became to late for him to ever find out.
His passing and everyone's disregard for her made it clear. She know faught for three men and three alone. She may not have meant to be loved by him. She probably never would be. But she would live.
Today, Voldemort had been defeated and all three of the men she fought for dead, Hermione Granger took her steps to leave the wizarding world of England with so much as a sound. Some would say she went in search of her parents, of course no one knew that they had been dead for atleast three years now. And then into the wind a jade eyed man would whisper,
"Why Mione, why did you leave me?"
His only response came in the winds. The winds which told him the tales of the woman who gave up her love as soon as she realized he would never love her. A woman who fought for men who were shunned by many. He realized that not only was she strong and beautiful but that he did love her. He loved her as long as he could remember. But it was too late. And till this day. Everytime he thought of her. Everytime he asked the same question. The winds would whisper the same...
"The reason is you."
How depressing... So people! Review por favor! I could make this into more than one shot, depending on reviews and all of that good stuff. So tell me. :)
