Always

Hearts will never be practical until they are made unbreakable.

"Oh how right you are Wizard," Bella sighed while clicking off the TV.

Bella yawned as she glanced at the clock on the side table: 1:32 am.

"Great," she thought, "another Friday night wasted."

Friday night pity-parties had become routine for Bella.

Her best friends, Alice and Angela, had tried relentlessly to lure her out of her godforsaken house and actually live a little.

But for Bella that was not an option, for he would be there.

And seeing him- with her-was never an option.

Especially now.

Now, she did not exist.

Now, she was meaningless to him.

While she was used to his bouts of silence towards her, the weight of them never failed to crush her being.

She felt worthless.

Barren.

Alone.

And if she wanted him in her life, she would just have to deal with it.

That's how he worked.

Those were his rules.

While she was in town, Bella meant nothing to him.

All those nights of passion, panting and moaning each other's names.

Gone.

She was just his sister's best friend.

No more. No less.

But when she left, Bella was the first person he came running to.

Whispering sweet promises and assurances.

"I've missed you," he would say while nibbling affectionately on her ear, "You were all I could think about."

"Lies," she would say to herself.

Yet, as his hands caressed slowly down her body, she would melt underneath his touch.

Once more he would claim her.

Time and time again.

"This has to stop," Bella scolds herself while drifting out of her reverie.

This endless cycle was slowly killing her. If she didn't stop now, there would be nothing left of her.

"I'm better than this," she declared to the empty house, "I know I am."

Suddenly she was surging with confidence.

She was going to end this.

Finally, she was going to face him and tell him that she was tired of his games.

Tell him that she would no longer be his pawn.

Tell him that she would no longer be his dirty little secret.

She was going to stand on her own two feet.

She was worth it.

She deserved it.

Knock Knock

Caught up in her epiphany, a startled Bella glanced curiously at the door.

"Who would come over at almost two in the morning," she thought while making her way towards the door.

Opening it, her entire body went ridged.

Smoldering green orbs pierced her own, leaving her breathless.

"Bella," he said simply.

Paralyzed by shock, Bella could only return his plainness, "Edward."

He took that as an invitation to move in closer.

But he abruptly halted as she moved away from him.

He eyed her cautiously.

"Can I come in," he asked, breaking out her favorite crooked grin.

Bella stared at him in disbelief.

"No. Who do you think you are? You cannot came waltzing in and out of my life whenever you damn well please. I won't let you. It's over, Edward. Over. No more."

That's all she had to say.

If only it was that easy.

He stared at her, his emerald gems tinted with sadness.

"Bella," he whispered softly, gently gliding his hand down her porcelain cheek.

Bella's eyes closed in rapture.

"Of course," she breathed as she moved to let him in.

His face lit up as he wrapped her in his arms; his lips slowly traveling the slope of her neck.

"Did you miss me," he asked, his hands skirting across the small of her back.

"Always."
