Hank. He had been her life for four years. They were the 'unlikely' couple. He was a jock, the co-captain of the football team, not the sharpest tool in the shed. She was the science geek, preferring chemical equations to pep rallies. And against the odds they had been together for four long years. It had started out as a tutoring session, until Hank dropped the class. But now, at the end of senior year, Sara was growing tired of it. She wanted...More. More, that Hank couldn't give her. He wasn't even going to college? how could she accept that out of someone she loved? But did she really love him? That was the question. That thought triggered her mind back the the English homework she was supposed to be working on. 'Ha. I guess are really does imitate life.'
***[xxx] translate Shakespeare into Sara's life***
'To be [love], or not to be [love],
That is the question.
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind
To suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune [well she
*had* been fortunate to have met him]
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles [breaking it off]
And by opposing, end them [be rid of Hank].'
-Hamlet, in Wm. Shakespeare's Hamlet
'Well, it seems ol' Billy's right.' Thought Sara as she closed her blue English binder. She had compiled a very...uhh...creative list of ways she could dump Hank by the end of her AP Biology class. (She didn't need to pay attention anyways.)
WAYS I CAN DUMP HANK BY THE END OF SENIOR YEAR
Use the "Let's just be friends" method Pull a "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" act Send him a copy of the following singles~Britney Spears- Let me Be
~ OK GO- Bye Bye Girl
~Queens of the Stone Age- Gonna Leave Now*
4. Make him attend Mr. Grissom's after-school Entomology Club
5. Find another guy....
6. Throw him off a mountain. (Ok, that was a last ditch effort)
As for number 5, she had just the guy in mind...and number four would coincide with it. Nick Stokes, Hank's co-captain, was also in the entomology club. Nick lead sort of a double life-- he was one of the smartest in the grade and the co-captain of the football team. Not many people can do both. Sara supposed it was because of his close friendship with the head cheerleader, Catherine Willows, and the school's hip-hop-playa-ladies man, Warrick Brown. The three had been friends forever, and so when Catherine rose on the social ladder, so did they. It was only by coincidence that Nick happened to be built perfectly for quarterback. Sara mused about Nick. He had a lot of things going for him, one being his love for science and his acceptance to Harvard. (A/N
I know he went to A and M, but go with me here!) 'Wow,
we'll be going to school together for the next four years...and
we'll be the only other people each of us know...anything
could happen!'
