Complete! One-shot. With their caseloads, unending paperwork, and Tsuzuki's constant nagging for treats, Hisoka never had any time for himself. So as soon as Tsuzuki had gone to see Watari, he took the chance to enjoy some time alone to read. Or at least that was the plan.

Disclaimer: I own a blender but not Yami no Matsuei. I wouldn't mind trading though.

It was nearly noon and Hisoka had taken up residence in the library during his lunch break to get in some reading. With their caseloads, unending paperwork, and Tsuzuki's constant nagging for treats, Hisoka never had any time for himself. So as soon as Tsuzuki had gone to see Watari, he took the chance to take advantage of his lunch break and enjoy some time to himself.

Or at least that was the plan…

"What are you doing here in the library, Hisoka?"

Hisoka released a sigh when his shoulders tensed, knowing without looking that it was Tsuzuki who was behind him. "What does it look like I'm doing?" he said stiffly.

"Uh…reading?"

"How astute of you," Hisoka murmured in a cool, steady voice. "How'd you get past the Gushosin? Don't they still have you blacklisted from coming in here?"

Tsuzuki laughed, "Well, I snuck in. I just got back from Watari's lab and thought I'd see if I could find you here."

"Don't come whining to me when they catch you and throw you out," Hisoka said as he shrugged and turned a page.

"Yeah, yeah. So what are you reading?" Tsuzuki asked as he leaned over the back of Hisoka's chair, stooping down low and angling his neck to glimpse at the text. "Poetry? Oooh! I love poems!"

"You like poetry?" Hisoka tossed the question over his shoulder, eyes widening with speculation as he lifted them to Tsuzuki's face.

"O-Of course! I read it all the time!" Tsuzuki replied with much gusto, enough to perk his smaller partner's interest.

"Really?" Hisoka shifted in his seat, sat up straighter. "Then who's your favorite author? Whitman? Cummings? Silverstein?"

Tsuzuki blinked at him and Hisoka didn't have to read his mind to know that the older man hadn't heard of any of the authors he had just listed. Tsuzuki's gaping expression was enough to confirm him of that.

"Uh…I'm more of a Suess fan."

It was now Hisoka's turn to gape, "Suess?"

"Yeah…you know. Cat in the Hat?"

Hisoka face palmed.

End.

AN: I'm guessing Hisoka's not a Suess fan like Tsuzuki. XD Another silly one-shot. No explanation for this one. Hope you all enjoyed it though. Expect another story up. Something sexy. I dunno. XD
