When Severus woke up, he was very confused. How did he and Kassie end up cuddling? And he vaguely remembered a beautiful singing voice singing him to sleep, but couldn't place down who it was. They were alone except for the ghost of Lily watching them. Kassie stirred slightly and her big brown eyes fluttered open. Severus tousled her curly dark brown hair, and she playfully batted his hand away, saying it was frizzy enough already.
He let out a rare chuckle, earning a smile from his good friend. She shyly tapped his nose and giggled. He smiled softly.
"Yes I get it, I'm gorgeous!" He said, obviously teasing. Little did he know, she actually found it to be true.
Lily smiled, happy her former best friend had found love. She knew Kassie loved him more than anyone else in the world.
Lily used her ability of telepathy to try and get them to kiss and seal the bond. Severus was the first to initiate it. He gently placed his lips on hers, and gave her a little peck on the mouth. Even her medium-dark complexion couldn't hide her blush.
She ran her fingers through his black hair and put her face in his shoulder.
"I love you, Sevvy." He heard her say, still shy and blushing like crazy. Her voice was quiet and sweet. Something about her statement and that nickname, Sevvy, just caused him to beam uncontrollably. No one, not even Lily, had ever said they love him.
Severus hugged Kassie gently and tenderly, as if afraid to lose this moment by showing too much excitement.
"Do you like me back, even a little bit?" She asked, shy and insecure. She was blushing even more, if that was possible.
"I don't just like you," Severus said. Kassie looked dejected. "I love you."
Now it was Kassie's turn to beam uncontrollably. Something about her smile made his heart flutter.
Lily felt a calling, and she returned to the afterlife. But they would fall into a relationship. She was sure of it.
