The Dance

We Dance,

Along the sea

We see the sea

Where they danced,

Those entities with a thousand eyes and a hundred eyes

The shoggoths slithered and slimed

Those freed slaves of the Antarctic, in their home

Beneath the waves, a dance of tentacles and flapping wings. Dancing eyes, teeth,

Tongue, fangs, feet,

Bubbling with ooze, slime, ice

Horror of life before life, of primordial fury and rebellion.

Endless in all things, in all ways, eternal in all things.

Forever and ever…

The sea breathes in the frigid air-

The dance of primordial creation there.

In a clumsy dance they wait there, rising from the sea. They came from beneath the waves, long bodies and appendages impervious

to cold…

The shoggoths rose,

and danced to far away R'lyeh.

They crawled to sleeping Cthulhu beneath the waves, oozing and boiling, singing without

sound.

They pass us in the sea spray.

The hunted, haunted eyes

Of the sea and the ancient death,

Which come so swift.
