Editor's Note
Holly: Hello all! :D Matthew told me to upload this as a test fic. Whatever xpp It was acctually how we became friends. She was writting it in US History...I thought they were notes and I tried to copy them. It made me laugh so hard! She was surprised and laughed too, only it was more like an okay-creepy-lady laugh. Anyway here's to good memories! Cheers!
Restless Afternoons
The day was beautiful.
The green grass was shining in the sun, and the sky had not a single cloud. Even the blemishes of dead patches of grass and lone weeds seemed breath taking. Every few minutes, the wind would hum gently, cooling the field where we sat. The weather was cool enough to wear jeans, yet warm enough to go without a sweater. It was the ideal napping weather.
Yet I found myself unable to snooze. The breeze was not too loud, was it? The sun wasn't shinning all that bright, or even in my eyes. The grass was rough, but the moist earth beneath it was soft and cool. I never had a problem with sleeping outside before.
No. It was not the environment, but him.
I looked beside me at the Japanese man.
The breeze came in, causing his dark hair to fly out of his face for a moment. He leaned his small sitting frame back on his hands, closing his brown, almost black eyes. He sighed softly at the cool, relieving breeze and smiled. I felt a blush darken my cheeks.
It never fails to amaze me that a man who makes me feel even more relaxed than usual makes it impossible for me to nap. On the contrary, I can't take my eyes off of him for more than a moment.
I reached out and laced my larger, tan fingers with his small pale ones. He looked up surprised, as if forgetting where he was, then smiled warmly at me. My heart swelled as he scooted closer and rested his head against my shoulder.
"I love you, Greece-san." He whispered softly, closing his eyes.
"I love you, too." I mumbled back.
I will never be able to rest with him around.
And I am just fine with that.
