As I threw on my jacket and grabbed my car keys, I left the apartment to go see Sam. Now that her mom is in the hospital, she needs me more than ever, and I do not mind. I love Samantha Puckett with all my heart.

I tried to prepare myself for the emotional state I was sure to find Sam in, but I did my best to keep myself from pushing that pedal all the way down to the floorboard, but it was starting to get the best of me, mostly when Freddie's words echoed through my mind.

"I don't see why she loves you, you're nothing special. Just another kid with a tight fitting pair of jeans and a band tee. I didn't think Sam would settle for something as low as you."

I began to grip the steering wheel tighter until Sam's house came into sight. I parked my black Lancer Evo infront of her house and walked straight in.

"Sam?" I called out

I heard a slam coming from her room, so I ran down the hall to her door and pushed it open, and saw her grabbing her head and lingering around her room crying.

"Baby, what's wrong?" I said as I grabbed her and held her to my chest tightly. I knew something must be terribly wrong when I saw that there was a freshly opened pack of cigarettes laying on her bed with half of them smoked and a Parkway Drive CD blasting out of her stereo speakers. She refused to say anything to me for a good 45minutes or so.

Then finally she looks into my eyes and says "Mason, why does this all have to happen to me?"

"Why does what have to happen to you darling?" I ask her quietly, still cradling her in my arms. I think I had somewhat of an idea of what she was going to say, but I didn't want to say it, she hates it when I make her look so obvious.

"Everything, family members dying, not knowing what's even wrong with my mom, not sure of where I'm going to go if she doesn't get better, and the thought of losing you" she said and almost immediately started crying again, but this time I was quick to be at her aid.

"It's all ok baby, it's going to be ok" I assured her. Not really knowing what is actually going to happen.

"I sure hope your right, I love you" she said right before she kissed my lips gently, then slowly returning her head to my chest and falling asleep.

"I love you too" I said smiling. I waited for her to be fully asleep before I could slip out. I left her a note on her desk for when she wakes up. I then kissed her cheek and slid out her window and began my drive back to Carly's.
