Fall For You

"Come on! Hurry!" Laura called, running ahead of Arthur as they walked down the dirt path toward the lake. He sighed, fallowing the small child in her eagerness. The night was getting darker, and yet brighter by the light of the full moon. "Woah!" Laura breathed, stopping just on the edge of the lake.

Gazing up at the sky in amazement, the stars shone brighter than ever as the moon reflected itself off the lakes water, accenting the soft ripples created by the wind.

Arthur chuckled lightly, "That's not the best part." He whispered, crouching down on his heals.

"Really?" Laura questioned, an eager grin with a curious expression, "What is?"

He smiled, holding up his figure, "Just wait!" As if on cue, the area around the pair lit up with thousands of fire flies.

The best thing 'bout tonight is we're not fighting

Could it be that we have been this way before?

I know you don't think that I am trying,

I know you're wearing thin down to the core.

Laura had managed to catch herself a hand full of fire flies in a jar before she'd fallen asleep in Arthur's lap. As the small girl slept, he stroked her hair softly, his mind wandering. She was a lot like Alfred. Rambunctious, energetic, complicated, strong, and full of wonder for her surroundings. As much as he hated to admit it, swearing to himself that she would be different, he knew it was inevitable.

The events playing over in his head.

"I just want my freedom!" Alfred shouted.

Arthur glared, his heart caught in his throat, "No! Your not ready yet! Why can't you just listen to me!"

Guns were pointed at both of them, but Arthur knew, he knew he hadn't the strength to shoot Alfred. The child he'd found and brought up himself. It was impossible. And so, he dropped his rifle, letting it hit the puddle below him as he sank down to his knees, tears welling up in his eyes at the loss of his own brother.

"Why don't you listen," He mumbled.

Alfred frowned, his voice softening as he looked down at his older brother, "What happened? You were once so strong." These were his last words before leaving Arthur in the rain, his independence gained.

This is not what I intended

I always swore you'd never fall apart

You always thought that I was stronger

I may have failed, but I have loved you from the start

Arthur sighed, lifting Laura carefully to carry her back home. Her head resting on his shoulder as he walked, gently rise and fall of her chest as she slept peacefully.

Arriving at their home, Arthur placed the child in her bed, tucking her in securely, he sat next to her. Brushing a strand of her dark brown hair out of her face, she snatched his arm, taking him by surprise, and pulled it close to her sleeping form as if it were her stuffed teddy bear.

"Night Iggy," She mumbled.

A small smile crossed Arthur's lips as he placed a small, gentle kiss on Laura's head, "Night." He whispered.

Because tonight will be the night

that I will fall for you over again

don't make me change my mind

Or I won't live to see another day

I swear it's true

because a girl like you is impossible to find

Your impossible to find
