AN: Hello = it's Dean Winchester's birthday! I always do a fic for Dean's birthday for some reason :D And this is my 40th story! Well anyways here is the story.

ELEPHANTS ARE PURPLE

"Uh...so Dean it's the twenty-fourth..." Sam ventured.

Dean looked up from the magazine spread across his lap."Yep a wonderful day. The sun is shining. Nothing seems to be dying." His eyes flicked to Sam and then back to his magazine, uninterested.

"You're turning the big three-two."

Cocking an eyebrow Dean spoke; his voice shrouded in mock interest, "Really."

Sam stood up and stepped towards his laptop perched at the end of Dean's bed. "Another year older."

He dropped the magazine off the side of the bed and walked into the bathroom. "Dually noted Sammy."

Sam had noticed it in the morning while on their way to breakfast...

"A few more grey hairs to add to the collection," Sam said to himself.

...He just wasn't sure how to break it to his brother.

Dean walked out moments later with something pinched in his fingertips.

"What colour is this?" he asked seriously. His lips were pursed and his eyes narrowly concentrating on the little strand that shone in the sunlight.

Sam glanced at it. "Grey."

Dean growled. "Don't lie Sam."

He rolled his eyes. "No really Dean, it's grey." There was no humor in his voice - he was merely reporting the facts.

"It is not grey!" Dean protested running his hand through the strands. Sam chuckled at the look of indignation.

"That's your hair isn't it?" he smiled.

"My hair is blonde...brown...somewhere along those lines."

The panic was lost on Sam who looked seriously at his older brother. "And elephants are purple."

"Elephants aren't purple, they're grey."

"Yes...and like it or not your hairs gonna be that colour as well." Dean looked like he was about to cry. "It's normal - you know that."

"But-"

"Richard Gere, Pierce Brosnan, I dunno why, but many women like the look." Sam comforted.

Dean pondered this for a moment before dropping the hair. "Yeah, yeah! I mean c'mon, I'm better looking...more charming," he said jokingly, his eyes however searched Sam for confirmation.

"Um - totally." Sam plastered on a smile - like a good little brother should in times of ridiculous need. Don't look at me - you'll always be ugly.
