Seshoumaru prided himself in the knowledge of having answers for everything. He was known throughout the lands to be skilled in many arts but when it came to little girls, he realized he had no clue.

All though he wouldn't openly admit it to any one, he did seek out the Hanyou's Miko for advice.

"Miko, I have cause to speak with you," Sesshoumaru said.

Kagome, who had been doing daily chores, stopped in her menial labor and went to him as if she had been doing so for years.

"Is something wrong?" The miko asked with pure sincerity.

"It's Rin," Sesshoumaru replied carefully. He came here with all intentions of ordering the miko to give him the answers he needed but he couldn't find the way in which to ask her with out sounding pathetic.

"She's not hurt is she?" asked the Miko worriedly.

"I would not let harm come to my ward," stated Sesshoumaru, annoyed that the Miko would even think such a thing.

"Oh, then what is the problem?" wondered the Miko clearly confused.

"She does not seem happy," this had confused Sesshoumaru thoroughly. Hadn't he supplied his ward with things she needed? Why was it that she was so unhappy?

The Miko's look softened and she seemed to understand, "You know Sesshoumaru, little girls like presents."

Sesshoumaru raised a questioning brow and the miko continued.

"Pretty and colorful presents, such as barrettes and combs, little girls love those things," the Miko smiled and turned, "I have extras in Kaede's hut."

So he followed her there and took what she offered in hopes it would bring a smile to Rin's face once again. He quickly departed from the Miko's presence not wanting to be caught for seeking her help. As he made his way to his home he studied the small things in his palm. They seemed to shine and glimmer as the sun reflected off the colorful jewels incased in the metal.

"Heh, I do not see what is so special about these," Sesshoumaru said dismissively. They didn't seem to have a purpose at all.

Upon his return, Rin greeted him as she always did but no smile lit her upon her face, that is until he presented her with the small combs and Barrettes the Miko had given him.

She had hugged him and thanked him, quickly running off to play with her new things. It was later that evening, as he was looking over scrolls that he had felt a tug on his sleeve.

"Lord Sesshoumaru?" said Rin's small voice.

Seshoumaru turned and his eyes slightly widened at the unexpected sight, but being skilled in the art of hiding any type of emotion his features turned to a mask of stone, "Yes Rin?"

"Do you like my hair?" the girl asked nervously, as if his opinion would be her undoing.

"Hnn, very grown up," said Sesshoumaru sinking claws into his palm.

She giggled and it was like a switch was turned on inside of her, she practically glowed; she was happy once more, she was his Rin again.

Sesshoumaru watched as she skipped from the room. He had to take leave shortly after not wanting sensitive ears to hear.

In the meadow, thinking upon what he had just witness brought first a smile to his lips and then a sound he didn't know he possessed escaped his parted lips.

The foreign feeling in him grew and the sound grew louder, it sounded rusty and unused but it came from deep in his gut and seemed to shake his whole being.

The picture of Rin, hair sticking out in multiple directions, secured by the combs and barrettes he had given her made him laugh out loud.

It was true that he was skilled at many things but when it came to little girls, he had a lot to learn.
