AN: Another one-shot written awhile ago that I posted just because. And I clearly read too much of this pairing.
WARNINGS!!! This is pretty clearly IruKaka or KakaIru (I'm not picky, so I'm not explicit). If this is a problem for you, click on that little button in the upper left corner of your screen. Oh, and minor SPOILER for Chapter 35 of the Manga or episode20-21 of the Anime.
Disclaimer: Leafs through a folder containing credit card bills and leases. Nope, haven't purchased Naruto yet. Twenty Truths is also not my idea, though I love their stuff.
Twenty Truths about Iruka and Kakashi
1. Their first interaction was well publicized, taking place as it did in front of the Hokage, all the jounin sensei, and a handful of Academy Teachers. Angry words were spoken, and both thought the other was way out of line.
2. Iruka later admitted to Kakashi that he had been wrong, but privately he thought the jounin's attitude still needed readjusting.
3. Kakashi found himself intrigued by this forthright chuunin. Confident enough to stand up to a jounin, honest enough to admit he was wrong, and as later observation uncovered, compassionate and patient with the ninja wannabees.
4. What really intrigued Kakashi, though, was how Naruto, Sakura, and yes, even Sasuke still spoke of Iruka with glowing words of appreciation.
5. Kakashi stal—observed—Iruka for four months, making a list of all the chuunin's qualities he could find.
6. When he added "damn sexy" to the list and didn't notice for three days, he decided he might be developing some feelings for the chuunin.
7. Iruka knew about the stalking on the first day. He decided if he just ignored it, maybe Kakashi would do something about it or go away.
8. Seeing as Kakashi is a complete dunce about personal relationships, he did not do anything or go away.
9. At the end of the fourth month, Iruka was fed up. He stomped out to the tree where Kakashi was not-so-well-hidden, told Kakashi enough was enough and to pick him up at five so they could go out to eat. Then he stormed back into the classroom to finish grading papers.
10. Kakashi showed up at Iruka's door at seven-thirty. Iruka, having expected the jounin to be even later than he was, had yet to don a shirt. It took half an hour for Kakashi to recover from his nosebleed and pull his act together.
11. After three weeks of going out for dinner, movies, or what-have-you, Iruka decided he was going to have to make all the important moves in the relationship. At the end of their date, he grabbed Kakashi, pulled down his mask, and kissed him soundly. Then he walked away.
12. Two weeks later, after a mission gone wrong, Iruka came to see Kakashi in the hospital. He paced and ranted about being more careful and didn't he know how much it would hurt Iruka if he died?
13. Kakashi can't stand seeing Iruka cry.
14. That's why, once he got out of the hospital, Kakashi went to the Hokage and requested a change in assignments.
15. Nothing would have come of this, if Iruka hadn't entered the Hokage's office two hours later and persuaded Tsunade that it was in everybody's best interest.
16. Nobody knows what was said in that office, but Tsunade treats Iruka with great respect whenever they see each other outside the Hokage Tower.
17. As soon as Kakashi took on his new job as jounin instructor and examiner, Iruka bought a pair of handcuffs.
18. The next morning, Kakashi was walking funny.
19. Kakashi no longer reads Icha Icha Paradise in public
20. The truth is, he doesn't need to. He is far too content with his Iruka-kun and all he has to do when he's bored is remember whatever they did the night before. Or, often enough, whatever they're going to do tonight.
