AN: Hey everyone! Well, I found this prompt I did last year in my fiction writing class and thought it was cute, so I decided to make it "Peachy" for y'all!

The Power of a Word
By Baine

"Do I have to use the word love?" Momo asked petulantly, staring up at her boyfriend, who sat across the table from her, his chin resting in his hand. "There's gotta be some way around it..."
"What other word are you going to use?"
"I dunno..."
"What's wrong with love?"
She shrugged her shoulders and blew her strawberry-blond bangs out of her amber eyes in frustration. "It's too constricting. Once I use it, there's no going back. There's no way out. Is this what I really want? If I use love, it doesn't mean I've won. I haven't spent all of this time with you for nothing, Kiley. I don't want it all to have been for nothing. I don't want to lose!"
"Who says that you'll lose? Come on, Momo, it's only a word. You've already won as it is, you know? So why not just use it?"
"A word that holds so much power!"
"Look, Momo, your time is running out...what's it gonna be?"
She glanced up at the brown-haired boy hesitantly, biting her lip nervously. After a moment, she nodded her head in defeat as she finally reached a decision.
"Fine, I'll use love." She pouted unhappily as she reached down and plucked up three worn mahogany squares, placing them gently onto the scrabble board that lay between her and Kiley. Her pink tongue hung out of the corner of her mouth as she counted up her points, picked up her pen, and recorded her score on the orchid tally sheet by her elbow. "Okay, Kiley, it's your move."
He looked at her skeptically, raising an eyebrow. He picked up the lone square from his holder, turning it to face her. "I only have the letter X left, Momo. Looks like you win after all." He smiled warmly at his girlfriend, then proceeded to help her put the game away for another rainy day.
Short, sweet, and to the point .
