Thorsday

"I like Saturdays," Daniel decided after careful consideration. "You can do anything on Saturday: work, relax, see people, sleep in…"
Across the fire pit Jack gaped at him teasingly. "You sleep in?"
"It's been known to happen," Daniel shot back.
"He doesn't spend all his time working," Sam informed her C.O.
"Could've fooled me," Jack muttered. "And you have no room to talk Carter. You're favorite day of the week is Monday."
"There's nothing wrong with Monday," she said defensively.
"I'm partial to Monday myself," Teal'c commented.
Jack was dismayed. "That is not natural."
"So Colonel," Sam cut in, "what's your favorite day of the week?"
"Thursday."
Everyone's eyes turned to Daniel.
"Now wait a minute," Jack protested, "how could you possibly know that?"
"Then he's right?" Sam wanted to know.
"Yes, but – "
"Impressive," Teal'c complimented Daniel.
The archaeologist's eyes danced with the firelight. "Thank you."
"Back up," Jack demanded. "How?"
"It was obvious," he shrugged. "You and Thor get along great so it would stand to reason that your favorite day of the week would be the day named after him."
"Thursday was named after Thor?"
"Clearly," Teal'c pointed out, "O'Neill does not subscribe to the same reasoning as you when it comes to choosing his favorite day of the week."
"Don't get me wrong," Jack insisted, "that's a great reason to love Thursday, I might even adopt it. It's just… Thursday is named after Thor?"
"In English, yes."
"As opposed to…?"
"Latin, the Romance languages. Their Thursdays are named after Jupiter – not that there's much of a difference. Both gods are associated with lightning."
Sam lit up. "That's fascinating."
Daniel grinned. "Yes, yes it is."
"Ah!" Jack interrupted. "Let's not start. Okay?"
The scientists obligingly remained silent, but amused glances were exchanged several times.
"So why is Thursday your favorite day?" Daniel asked after a while.
"I believe the newest episodes of the Simpsons air on Thursday," Teal'c responded for his friend.
Jack grumbled something under his breath about not being able to have any sort of personal life to himself.
Sam contemplated the differences. "I prefer the explanation with Thor."
"Me too."
"As do I."
"You know what?" Jack decided. "So do I. Thorsday. It's got a nice ring."
