(I OWN NOTHING! Except for Victor and any other original characters I happen to include.)
Hi, I had an idea for a Thomas Barrow fanfic which involves a young man who's family is close with the Crawlys, he fights with his sexuality and tries to ignore it to the best he can, but once he meets Thomas he finds it harder and harder as each day goes by because of this a love affair with the footman soon develops, I hope you enjoy! I did take some liberties with history in this, so excuse any inaccuracies when it comes to Northampton.
First Footman
Abington Manor House, 1914 July 3rd
Victor Abington was what every well bought up young gentleman should be, polite courteous and quite the charmer. His parents saw him growing up well and for that matter, marrying well.
Victor sat in the extravagant dinning room of his manor home, listening to the mindless chatter that he had heard from his parents and their friends almost every night since the night he was old enough to eat with them. Tonight though, the family dined alone, Victors only sister had married two years ago, to an old fodder who he never took a liking to. Neither did his sister for that matter, but he was rich and could give her a good life. That's all that mattered.
His parents discussed politics, which was a rather pointless discussion as his mother kept her own opinions on matters hidden, and agreed with whatever her husband said. Their lavish life, and how lucky they are, to live such a life while most everyone else suffers. And on the odd occasion, they would discuss Victor, how he needed to find a wife soon, how that lovely girl would be most suitable for him, the thing about that was that he wasn't quite sure that he even felt that way about girls. A 19 year old gentleman and he hasn't taken an interest in any of the young ladies thrown his way, and there were a lot of them.
This conversation soon ended as dinner did the same, instead of staying with his parents in the parlor he decided he would go to bed earlier than usual, not wanting to listen to them any longer.
"Are you quite sure you'd like to go to bed dear? We could play a game of bridge!" His mother protested.
"Yes, quite sure, I'm tired, been very busy today, and besides I'm leaving for Downton tomorrow, I should get my rest."
His mother nodded in response "Yes, of course, I shan't see you in the morning I'm afraid, as I couldn't dream of being up that early, so do give my greetings to their lord and ladyship."
"Of course, goodnight."
With that he headed up to his room.
Knock knock.
"Yes? Come in."
A rather sheepish looking man walked in as Victor was about to change for bed.
"Ah, Ernest, please don't bother tonight, get some rest and I'll see you in the morning." Victor says to dismiss his newly hired valet, just wanting to sleep.
"Are you quite sure sir?" Ernest looked at Victor, assuming the worst that he wasn't doing a good enough job and Victor didn't want him.
"Yes Ernest, I'll see you in the morning." Victor dismisses Ernest with a wave of his hand.
Ernest nods and leaves the room, quietly closing the door behind him.
Victor sighs with relief, alone at last.
I hope this is something someone likes, I think it came out rather well, I'm sorry to say I didn't get Thomas in yet, but I'm tired, so I'll have to get to that tomorrow or later :)
