CC-3654/0173: 5 days after Battle of Geonosis
She was small and thin, and walked with a lighter and bouncier step than her two counterparts. A bright smile graced her face. To CC-3654/0173, she was the coming of the sun.
CC-3654/0173 walked beside a fellow commander- a man who went by the nickname "Cody". Cody's voice broke over the comm.:
"The Jedi are here to meet with us. I've been assigned to General Obi-Wan Kenobi, the man on the left. You're assigned to General Alcyone. Do you see her? Try to make a good impression."
Suddenly the Jedi were upon him. In a daze, CC-3654/0173 snapped to attention. He was told his command was assigned under a Jedi Knight by the name of Alcyone. His assignment chart gave him no extra details: no first name, no image, and no description of any kind. As a clone, he'd been taught to be prepared, but he was feeling quite out of his element here on Coruscant. Nothing could have prepared him for meeting Alcyone.
The Jedi Alcyone stared straight through CC-3654/0173's helmet visor. Her hair was bright gold and reflected the sunlight in waist-long curls. CC-3654/0173 hadn't even known that hair could grow that long. Her eyes sparkled with intelligence and curiosity. The clone commander was shocked by how young she was. She didn't look much older than him.
"And who are you?" she gently asked.
CC-3654/0173 heard Cody chuckling inside his helmet.
"Stop staring, start talking," Cody mumbled. Alcyone wasn't able to hear Cody's comment, and continued to wait patiently for a response. CC-3654/0173 chose not to reply to Cody.
"Ma'am! I am CC-3654/0173, Clone Commander of the 407th battalion. You have been assigned as my commanding officer."
"Really? Oh, very nice, I didn't realize I was being assigned a division so quickly…" she glanced at Kenobi, "Uh, excuse me for being rude. My name is Alcyone. Just Alcyone. Apparently I am a general now."
For the rest of the afternoon, Alcyone and CC-3654/0173 toured the young general's new flagship, a Republic cruiser called Honor of the Republic. Alcyone shook her head when she read the name. She told that the ship's name was too long and dramatic. The ship needed a nickname. CC-3654/0173 was terribly confused by her comments, but he kept his opinions to himself.
For a moment, the Jedi appeared thoughtful. She looked up shyly.
"I cannot for the life of me remember your number. You need a name, Commander. What do you want me to call you?"
CC-3654/0173 thought about all the nicknames he'd had over the years, and how most of them were rather insulting. Oftentimes, he didn't even have a nickname. A loner, even among his brothers, CC-3654/0173 didn't have an official name. In his heart, the clone never thought of who he was, or what he was. All he knew was his duty and his training. Without that, he wasn't sure what he was.
"Well, I'll think of a name," Alcyone was deep in thought. She giggled, startling CC-3654/0173 with the girly noise.
"Okay, okay, I've got it!" she said after a while, with a mischievous grin, "I'll call you Bob! I've always wanted to name someone Bob!"
Bob? Where did that come from?
CC-3654/0173 did not understand this Jedi's humor. But now, for the first time, he had an actual name.
For the first time in a long time, he felt human.
