A Promise to Keep

She stood looking down at her infant son his eyes closed tight his
small hand made into a tiny fist placed by his head his unruly hair so
like his fathers had been laid out in all different directions. He was
sleeping peacefully, his breathing even. She pushed back a strand of her
jet black hair and sighed. It was getting harder and harder to conseal
her hurt from others. She did her best not to let on how much she missed
him,her Goku. Sometimes she silently cursed him for being so selfless.
Why couldn't he just once think of himself? Just once be selfish enough
to put his own self preservation first? But even as she thought these
things she'd remind herself that the reasons he'd done what he had was
to save her and the world from destruction. But it didnt dull her pain
and she didnt know how to open up to others about such things. She just
busied herself with caring for her baby and her teenage son who was fast
becoming a man..But still when alone like this it was hard... so hard for
her not to break down when all she wanted was for him to come through the
door and lift her up in his strong arms. She needed him desperatley even
if she didn't show it. Her eyes burned with hot tears that slowly slid
down her face as she remembered his promise to her.
"Whatever happens I will return to you."
She knew she could believe in this but at times it was so hard..A noise
from the crib drove her from her reviere. Her small son was awake now
his small hands waving as he reached for her. She lifts him and holds
him to her. His small hands pat her cheeks and she smiles through her
tears. He would return she knew that. The promise was written in the
face of thier infant son,He would return to her to them and when he did
it would be for always.
