Chapter one some one new
I had just moved to England to stay with my father's cousins while he was in the war. Upon my arrival the busty blond southern bell would be had patted me on the head said "love to stay and chat Maggie" not my name I might add and pushed me out the door saying. "Head up to that house and stay there give the brown haired lady this letter." And pulled her own bags out of the house getting in to the car and left me.
And so here I was not even an hour in this town and already confused and pushed on to someone new. I looked at Daisy Adair's house where I would have been staying noticed that if this brown haired lady turned me away I could brake in through the basement window and stay there. I nodded and then turned and started up the road.
When I go to the top of the hill and set my bag on the front step I knocked on the door then worried about what would happen. What if she sent me away? What if she has kids and they don't like me? What if I can't get into Daisy's house when she kick's me out?
Just as I was dreaming up some nightmare where I was raped while sleeping in the street a boy with shaggy hair and endearing but confused eyes opened the door. "Err hello?" he blinked stepping out and waiting for me to say something.
I nod "yah. Um, hi well see." Now this was one thing I did not think of yes I had thought all the way through to rape but not this, The door being answered by a boy and not the brown haired lady I was to give the letter to.
Taking a deep breath in and trying again ignoring the laughing look he was giving me I spoke. "See I was told to give this to a lady with brown hair who lives in this house" I held out the crisp letter and ranted on. "See im staying with Daisy Adair down the way but she left and yah." I trailed off when he shook his hair out of his eyes it was soft looking the kind you want to run your hands through like a newborn fluffy puppy.
"Come on in mum isn't home mind if I read this?" I shook my head my long braded hair hitting me in the side of the face winced and fallowed him in handing him the letter. He opened it and read it over looking at me a few times. "You don't seem like a Maggie." I shook my head.
"Im not that is Daisy thinks well rather had my name wrong im Marie. Marie Maybell." He nodded and tossed the letter on the table.
"Well looks like your staying here Marie." I nodded and looked at the floor. "Im Edmund by the way." I smiled a bit.
"Nice to meat you Edmund." I said shyly being home school in the middle of the forest with my mother till dad went to war and mom flew off with the wind made it a new thing to be alone in a room with a boy.
But as he chatted on and introduced me to his siblings, Piper, Isaac, Osbert and cousin, Daisy who was nothing like Daisy Adair and had just arrived a day earlier then me I loosened up a bit and smiled even joking witch was nice.
Then they showed me my room and I waited around with them till there mum got home. Penn was a nice lady and said it was no trouble for me to stay then gave us food before saying she had to go out of town telling us to take care of each other kissing every one. She looked hurt when I held out my hand to her before laughing and giving me a big sloppy kiss then waiving and heading out the door.
And then there we were six kids, two that are strangers with little to know rules.
