The four generals entrapping the World Tree fall under the attacks of the Alliance and the demon commander with the eye patch guilty of sealing the Transcendent of Life escapes without trouble. The surprisingly little and human-shaped World Tree named 'Alice' in the seriously frilly and almost diabetes-inducing sweet green dress is escorted to safety.
All in all as the Alliance's representative of the Dual Blades he's done a good job in this mass joint-mission. Kim is preparing to leave, going over the exact words he will use in his report to Lady Syl in his head when the elf approaches him. She is beautiful, yes, but he's gotten no interest in initiating some sort of romantic advance.
As it turns out, neither does she. "What was that for?" she demands, and the aura of royalty is within every syllable of her crystal-cut words.
"What?"
If she weren't holding her two bow guns, she would have crossed her deceivingly slender arms. As it is she merely raises her head imperiously. "The trick you pulled with Vellum," her voice is too sophisticated and elegant to be cross. It's . . . well, Kim's sure there's a fancy word for it, but he doesn't have that addition in his vocabulary and even if he had it he's not going to waste it on a snobby elf. "I don't need a man to rush in and save me. I can take care of myself just fine."
"It wasn't for you."
She glares. He's irritated now. Put the damn baby blues away, they're terrible for threats.
"That thing was an overgrown worm," he hoists his pack onto his back and adjusts his blades. "I hate worms."
"I can take care of myself," the queen of the elves repeats and impatiently tosses her long hair over her slim shoulders, the gold strands the only source of sunlight within the dark depths of the abyss created by titanic roots. "Just remember that the next time," she warns and spins away to leap lightly over the rocky terrain, light in the dark finished with what she had to say about matters.
Women.
Rolling his eyes, Kim goes back to planning his report out.
I was watching the Root Abyss Trailer (because of Damien being Damien and Alice too) and just as Vellum was about to attack Kim came in and kicked the overgrown worm's head. (why you a dual blade if you kick that well dude?)
Wish I knew the name of the thief explorer.
