"Go on Evans! It's nearly Christmas, good will to all men." Sirius Black shouted down the hallway as the red-haired witch tried every charm she knew to rid herself of the enchanted mistletoe.
"BLACK! POTTER! Get rid of it NOW!" She shrieked when it followed her regardless.
"Only one way to get rid of it Lily-flower" James Potter told her, offering his cheek.
Remus Lupin sighed at his friends, he'd hoped by fifth year he would have been able to leave his post as the sensible one of the group, but as Peter had disappeared – again – it seemed he would have to intervene.
"You know Lily – you don't just have to kiss James. Any boy would break the charm."
"MOONY! How could you betray me like that!" James protested as a grin came across Lily's face. "Lily-flower? Where are you going?" The marauder followed his beloved through the halls of Hogwarts until she stopped at the fountain in the courtyard where a sullen young man sat, his hooked nose deep in a potions textbook.
"Severus?" She greeted him sweetly.
"NO. Evans –" James' shout came out strangled as the boy looked up in response to his name and Lily leant down to press a chaste kiss to his lips, leaving a stunned expression on his face.
"Any boy and you pick Snivellus?!" Sirius was incredulous. "You could have at least picked someone good looking."
"Who's to say I don't find Severus good looking Black?" Came Lily's reply as she headed off in the direction of the great hall, Severus Snape looking after her longingly.
