Warfare

Disclaimer: I don't own The Giver, I forgot the disclaimer on my other Giver story so let this disclaimer also be that one.
A/N: This is an original poem I wrote in class for a project that my teacher made us do. We had to write a poem, draw a picture or build a diorama of one of the memories Jonas receives. I choose the warfare one, we also had to tell what each thing meant in our poems, etc…that is listed below with my poem if you would like some understanding on my word choice and so on.
Red rivers on a lifeless bank
The world is dreary and dank
Green is now gone
As darkness swept along
Grey is the sky
And a mother's cry
A small comfort or relief
Changes one's belief
I chose "red rivers on a lifeless bank" for line one because it is honest and descriptive. "Red rivers," meaning blood and death; "lifeless bank," meaning the death that is all around.
I said "world dreary and dank" because war is not a happy time. No one enjoys death and destruction.
"Green is now gone" is used as a metaphor to show that war ruins what is beautiful.
"As darkness swept along" refers to "evil." How the evils of man destroy us all.
"Grey is the sky" is another metaphor to tell how weather always in fiction signifies the coming of "evil."
"And a mother's cry" means that death affects everyone. It usually makes one sad, and when your son or daughter dies in war you cry.
"A small comfort or relief" is used to show the significance of something to ease your pain.
"Changes one's belief" represents the fact that one true memory, like this one, and you'll be a different person.
SEE THAT WASN"T SO BAD! REVIEW PLEASE!
