Sadstuck Headcanon #211

After the game, the kids never see the trolls again, and their memories of Sburb are wiped; they continue their lives right where they left off. Dave suddenly develops a liking for cherry-flavored candy, and Rose starts writing about vampires, coming up with the idea that vampires are bio-luminescent

"Shut the fuck up, Dave, no one asked for your stupid opinion," a blurry faced character shouted angrily. His whole body was blurry, but he could make out some orange, gray and black. Nothing else.

"But since you think my opinion is stupid, doesn't that make what you said an opinion?" Dave said evenly.

The blurry guy suddenly turned red, glowing a bright red, and he tackled Dave in a warm hug.

"Don't forget about me, okay?" he murmured into Dave's ear.

Dave hugged the character back, feeling a dark hole in his heart. "Don't leave me, please!" His voice was so heartbroken, and nothing could stop the flowing tears.

The blurry gray person wiped the tears away gently, but even Dave could see tears - red tears - falling down his face. "You have to stay strong, but you can't forget about me, you can't. Promise?"

Dave took the character's hand, and brought it up to his face, and gently pressed his lips against the warm gray skin. "I promise," he whispered. "I love you so much."

The blurry character gently took Dave's face, and leaned in, but was suddenly ripped away, screaming, "No! Dave, don't forget! I promise we will meet each other, Dave, I can promise that! I love you, Dave!"

Dave felt his heart shatter into a million pieces as he screamed back. He couldn't move, and all he could do was scream. "Don't leave me! Don't leave me!"

The character was fading away, until all Dave could hear was his own heartbroken sobs and screams.

Dave slowly opened his eyes, waking. He raised his hands to rub his eyes, but there were tears on his face. The dream, he thought, feeling emptiness settle in. He instantly reached for a cherry-flavored lollipop.

The wrappers in Dave's room all read "cherry flavored" on them. The crinkled thin wrappers were strewn across the floor, on his desk, and in his trash cans. Dave would always have cherry-flavored candy on his person at all times, and every time he ate one, he couldn't help but dwell on a nagging annoyance in the back off his head.

Sometimes he sat with his head down, trying to un-blur the face in his dreams. He couldn't even remember a name. Everything hurt. Why did it hurt? Why did he suddenly feel like he couldn't move, eat, talk, or interact with anyone? He wanted to sleep. He wanted to sleep forever.

Tears began to drip down his face, and he curled into a ball, silently whispering, "Come back, come back please." He coughed, and gripped the blanket. And suddenly the name came back to him. "Please, Karkat."
