Fate thrust the two men together
At a threat to end the world.
Together, they developed a bond
Based solely on a love for science.
They would share their science-y jargon
And keep the others out.
An odd companionship, truly.
One a best friend of alcohol,
A self-proclaimed philanthropist.
The genius, the man of iron.
The other a brilliant scientist,
Who was possessed by his monster,
Which would take over when he lost his temper.
One self-conscious, the other overly confident.
Would men such as these
Truly make good friends?
Despite the overwhelming odds,
The two thrived on each other's companionship,
Sitting in silence in the lab
While amongst machinery and equations.
Even when not at work,
The two were unnaturally confident together.
They would joke and laugh,
Together content and at peace.
They were the Science Brothers,
Doing everything in the name of their passion.
Even when science wasn't involved,
They proved they were a powerful team.
Whenever the world as threatened,
The two would leap into action,
Meanwhile protecting each other from harm.
But then, one day, they saw each other in a different light.
A not-so-lazy day, when they were working.
The billionaire was being comical,
And the shy scientist was laughing.
In unison, they looked at each other,
Pausing as their breaths caught.
Neither had noticed an attraction before;
For geniuses, they were pretty ignorant.
It had always been there,
But neither of them had noticed until now.
It was a beautiful moment,
Picture perfect, a fairytale.
One noticed how beautiful his companion was,
And the other noticed the same.
The moment they broke eye contact,
Blushing shamelessly as they did,
They knew something had shifted in their relationship.
It took a while before their feelings would be confronted.
But when it was, it was through a kiss,
So soft, so gentle, so full of longing.
It said everything and so much more.
This new love blossomed,
As beautiful moments began to arise.
Stolen kisses in between solving equations;
Loving glances from across a room;
Nights spent between the covers,
Their bodies tightly intertwined.
Neither of them wanted this to change,
For both of them knew they were lost without each other.
Together, they had found an equal;
Someone who could understand them
In their delight, in their sorrow.
They had found their perfect match,
The sole speakers of their very own language.
And so the boyfriends of science
Realized not all of their efforts were for
The love of science.
Rather, together, they discovered
The science of love.
