Nanami x Mizuki

She had kept it a secret. The fact that she truly had feelings for the snake. At first her heart had belonged to Tomoe..but after a while, she started noticing Mizuki. His stark white hair, bright green eyes, unbelievably smooth skin… His kind and gentle personality, with a hint of a sneaky attitude due to his snake yokai nature. She loved him, of that she was sure, but she was too afraid to confess such. It caused her to be awkward around the shrine (considering he was her familiar and always tried to dote on her when Tomoe wasn't being a nag). In his presence she felt herself blush, her palms get sweaty, and her heartbeat would accelerate. She wanted to hold him, and-

"Naaaaaaanami," she heard said snake call out lazily from behind her. She felt his breath on her neck and it made her shudder, but not in a bad way. "How's my Mistress doing?" he asked politely, stepping around her so that they stood face-to-face and entwining his hands behind his back, smiling.

She gulped, as she hadn't been expecting him to pop up out of nowhere. Her usual symptoms that cursed her but were evidence of her affection for him began to overtake her. She couldn't respond, so she remained still and quite. Mizuki's brow rose, confused as to why she wouldn't speak to him all of a sudden.

'She's been acting so weird around me lately..' he thought, feeling a little depressed. 'I wonder why..maybe I did something wrong...or maybe that idiot Tomoe told her something stupid that she believed…'

She finally stuttered out, "I-I'm doing just fine." She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and silently prayed that her blush would die down soon.

Mizuki tilted his head, curious of her reaction. The adorable gesture made her nerves flare up and she pushed in 100% of her efforts to refrain from grabbing him and pulling him close against her. She wanted to kiss him so badly, the urge was overwhelming to the point of physical pain.

The poor snake was completely unaware despite the fact that he was usually good at picking up on human emotions and responding to them accordingly. He reached out and held her hand, not too sure why but for some reason he knew it was just the right thing to do.

Nanami nearly lost her sanity. In her suddenly bewildered and surprised state she blurted out a few words that would have a strong effect on the relationship between mistress and familiar.

"I'm in love with you."

His eyes widened and he stiffened, not expecting such a powerful confession to fall from her soft plump lips. It made his heart blaze with passion, and adrenaline course through his veins. "I've loved you since the moment I set eyes on you, my dear Nanami." He pulled her into an embrace, and she clutched onto his shoulders, burrowing her head into the crook of his neck.

He hugged her gently and she breathed heavily against him, feeling a variety of emotions hit her at once. Fear, relief, confusion, and most of all, pure and absolute love.

"S-so, "she stuttered awkwardly, shifting away from him just slightly so that she was able to look into his bright green eyes, "what now?"

He smirked and kissed her forehead softly, earning a small yip from the land god, her cheeks acquiring a strawberry colored red as a result. He found it to be absolutely adorable. She was just so cute. "Well now," he swooped her up in his arms, deriving an even louder yip from her, which he now found to be his new favorite sound to hear. It was bliss to his ears. "Now, I'm going to make you my bride."

"Mizuki…" she muttered, looking away from him, "don't you think that's a bit much."

"Look at me," he demanded gently, and she did as he said. He gazed at her with such an overwhelming and genuine amount of love in his eyes that she could hardly handle it. "Do you want me forever?"

She was unable to speak, finding herself powerless and incapable of response because he had such an intense effect on her. So she merely nodded, not having to think it through because she knew deep in her heart that she truly wanted him. It was different than with Tomoe. What she felt for Mizuki was so inordinate and different that she couldn't put it into words or thoughts or anything that won't make any remote sense.

He kissed her lips and she returned it with passion and vigor, wrapping her arms around his neck. She lost control and couldn't stop herself from entering his mouth and battling with his tongue, pulling at his hair almost desperately, like she couldn't get enough of him.

He didn't want too but he departed from the kiss, knowing that if he didn't things would get out of hand. He set her down and caressed her cheek. "I didn't think this would happen, not today, not ever. But it did. And you have no idea how happy it makes me."

"Same here," she said, finding herself finally capable of speech.

They held hands and walked outside together as the sun began to set, hues of red and orange dancing in the baby blue sky that would slowly become black as the night introduced itself.

They wanted to be together, forever, happy and in love.

Hopefully a certain fox doesn't plan to ruin that.
