Jeff waited until the others, including the Dean, had left the room before whirling on Annie in annoyance. "Seriously, I thought we talked about this! You were excited about doing a cou-pairs costume with me! Why did you change your mind and go for the creepy girl look?" He waved his hand at the tattered white dress and tangled hair that made the normally hot woman before him into an escaped mental patient.

"I'm the girl from the Ring movie, Jeff. So technically I am a Ring girl like you wanted. But maybe I changed my mind and didn't want you to be ogling me all night in front of everyone!" She tilted her chin up in defiance. "It's hard enough to keep the others from figuring it out as is without you drooling all over me in public, and I don't think Halloween is the best time to tell them about us, do you?" she shot back, eyes blazing.

Jeff sighed as she met his gaze and refused to back down. She had a point, and he had let the idea of seeing her in a skimpy outfit gloss over the fact that their friends still didn't know about them and that he really didn't want to change that little fact yet. He glanced around, checking for any spectators like Leonard or someone, then let his expression soften and pulled her close for a quick kiss. "You're right," he admitted.

Annie gave him a mischievous grin. "I usually am. But I'll make it up to you and wear it later tonight, after Vikki's party."

Jeff made a sour face. "Actually, I'd rather you didn't. I don't think I could get the image of the Dean wearing your outfit out of my head." She blanched as well.

"How did he find out what I was going to wear, or even that we were planning on a couples costume?" Annie wondered.

Jeff shuddered. "I don't know. Ever since he decided to move next door, he has been getting creepier and creepier. Yesterday he came over to invite me out for tacos."

"What are you going to do about him?" she asked.

"I'm not sure. I did have one idea though that ought to make things clear to him."

"What?"

"I figured if you moved in with me, he would get the hint." Jeff told her, and then walked off smugly as she stood there in surprise.
