Audrey is a little too cheerful when Percy comes home- suspiciously so. Her smile is just a bit too broad, her voice too shrill. "Welcome home, sweetheart," she says pecking his cheek. "You're drenched."

"It's raining."

"I know. Which is why, well…"

He raises his brows, folding his arms over his chest. "Well?" he prompts.

His wife pulls something out of her robe pocket. At first, Percy thinks it's just a large collection of fluffy hair, but, upon closer inspection, he notices the tiny pink nose and crystal blue eyes. "Meet Morgana!" she squeals, and the bundle of fluff mews.

"Mor-? What?"

"Morgana. She was outside, soaking wet. Poor thing. I had to bring her in! Look how tiny she is!"

"You know I hate cats," Percy groans, stepping back. "They're little furry assholes, and they shed, and-"

"But I'm cute!" Audrey insists, speaking as the cat. "Look how cute I am! How

can you say no to my fluffy little face?"

Percy rolls his eyes, but he can't help but smile. "Audrey…"

"I'll feed her," Audrey promises. "And give her lots of love! And I'll give her baths, and-"

"You don't put cats in tubs. Furry demons, remember? She'll murder you."

"Okay. No baths. But can I please keep her? No home is complete without a pet," Audrey insists.

Percy hesitates. He really doesn't like cats, and he never has. But the sweet smile on his wife's face, the way her eyes shine when she looks at the little ball of fluff… He could never refuse her anything.

"Fine. We can keep… Morgana," he finally agrees.

"Yay!" Audrey squeals, pressing the cat's face gently to Percy's cheek. "Mwah! See? Morgana loves you already!"

Percy rolls his eyes. "I'm sure she does."

But Audrey isn't listening. She's already rushing through the house, giving the kitten a tour as though it can understand.
