I screwed up.

I know I did, knowing he adored me more than anything.

I used him, like a rag, something I expected to be there in order to clean up my messy ordeals and drabbles that I would get into.

I never expected him to leave, to leave everything we had behind.

"Lucy.." His voice trailed off, hesitating to speak unwanted words.

"I think it's best, that I go away from here, permanently."

My inner chest burst into flames. "Wait, Natsu, I-"

He quickly raised his hand, affirming silence.

I can barely harbor a breath, let alone give myself a chance to think.

"You know it well, Lucy. Our time together was unforgettable. Loving you was the best choice I ever made.. but as we all know, all great things come to an end." He smiled sadly, in a bittersweet manner.

The smolder that began growing in my insides almost engulfed my entire body.

Paralyzed, I tried to speak but nothing except air escapes my lips.

I let out a dry laugh: "So.. all those fairy-tales about everlasting love.. in the end, the dragon is slayed.."

"And, dear princess, you held the blade." Natsu spoke back with a cold tone.

He smirked, as if knowing he was leaving with my heart in his palm.

"Cheers, Lucy."

Without another word, he picked up his pack and walked straight into the night with only the dying stars to illuminate his path.

Not looking back.

We only said goodbye with words.

Not a touch.

Just the uneasy vacant feeling.

I knew..

I knew this time, he wasn't coming back.
