A/N: So, this is the story mentioned on my profile. The first NCIS story was a detour that happened when I was trying to figure out hair color for one character. Anyway, this story takes place around 1976 about a year before Gibbs met Shannon. This is more like an untold back story of Gibbs encompassing one of the many theories floating around in my head. Anyone who can figure out where the story title and/or the title of this chapter comes from will get their choice of virtual dessert and/or bonus points and/or virtual pink fluffy unicorn. Reviews are welcomed and might help feed my motivation to finish the next chapter.

Oh, My God it's Just Like in that Movie

The clock sluggishly ticking above the door only read 12:15. The small general store was stocked, swept, and dusted leaving Leroy Jethro Gibbs with nothing to do for the next five hours. His senior year began in four days, so there were no papers or homework that needed attention. The only good thing about a slow day at the store was it gave him time to people watch. People fascinated him, looking out the store window he created stories about the people passing by. This strange hobby also gave him the opportunity to learn how people react in different situations and how to read lips. It seemed pointless though to create these stories when he knew just about everyone in town, but it kept his mind from going stir crazy.

Yet, even today it seemed that even his imagination was taking a vacation. Then a glimmer caught his eye. He had never seen the girl before; which was odd because no one ever moved into the town. Everyone just wanted to get the hell out of the small mining community. Jethro stood from his bench from behind the cash register and stood in front of the large window. His view was partially blocked thanks to the name of the store plastered on it. From what he could see it appeared she had a quizzical expression as she starred at the row of buildings. She glanced back to the store and began walking towards it. Jethro hastily stumbled back to his bench. He barely sat down before the bell announced her presence.

"Hi. Do you need help with anything?" he asked with a shaky voice lacking its' normal confidence.

Her deep chestnut ponytail rocked back and forth as she shook her head "no". The mystery girl pranced around the store in high platform wedges picking items as she explored her new surroundings. When she returned to the counter the jittery feeling Jethro felt had not yet dispersed. As he bagged the items he dropped a can of soup which narrowly missed his foot.

"Bye. Have a great day." Gibbs said with much effort.

Once again the mystery girl said nothing, but just smiled and waved good-bye.

"God she must think I'm a total spaz. I couldn't even say hi without sounding like an idiot. Maybe I'll be lucky and never see her again. Maybe she's just passing through town and needed supplies for a road trip. Yeah right no one buys canned soup on a road trip. With my luck she'll be in all my classes this year." Thought Gibbs as he hit his head against the counter.
