Author: I love Soundwave. A lot. Irrationally so, considering the tiny part he had in the movie. So I had to write something with him. Perhaps a larger fic with him as the main character will spawn, but, for now, you have this ficlet.
Disclaimer: I love Soundwave but he isn't mine. D: None of them are. Poo.

Soundwave was a creature of order—he liked everything in its place, and anything that disturbed said order was immediately regarded with a great deal of suspicion. So when Starscream came back proclaiming that Megatron had fallen, Soundwave immediately assumed that Starscream lied. He had lied before—why shouldn't he do so again? It wasn't exactly a secret that he wanted Megatron's position. When Starscream also claimed that the All Spark was gone—forever—he had doubted the mech's sanity. Not that he hadn't before, but this was pushing his perception of the Seeker's lucidity (or lack thereof).
Soundwave was logical and viewed everything with an air of detachment, but there was one thing—more accurately, one mech—who could get under his shell, make him do things that were completely and utterly illogical.
That mech happened to be Megatron.
So, without alerting anyone of his plans, he had taken off with his group and headed towards the watery rocky planet that Megatron had been found on. He already knew the co-ordinates from Frenzy—the little 'con knew how much Megatron meant to Soundwave--and had alerted him immediately when Megatron was discovered and revived.
The trip was a fairly long one, which gave Soundwave time to mull over what Starscream had said and formulate a plan. Eventually, he came up with:
1) If Megatron was alive, Soundwave would alert him of Starscream's treason and the Seeker, more likely than not, would be dealt with in a very painful fashion. Soundwave personally thought that keeping Starscream around was a highly illogical decision on Megatron's part, but wasn't about to challenge his leader.
2) If Megatron really was dead, he would find a way to revive him.
It was that simple.
Soon...soon he would be with the one mech that made his spark ache and processor lose all coherence. Soon he would be with the one creature that made him behave irrationally, the one that could claim dominance over every part of his being—mind, body, and spark—and he wouldn't mind. Megatron defined his world ever since he had first laid optics on the charismatic Cybertronian. Soundwave knew with every ounce of his being that he would follow Megatron until he was killed, either in Megatron's defense or by the Decepticon leader's own hand. Megatron was everything to Soundwave—without Megatron, his universe would lose its order, and Soundwave knew instinctually that he would follow Megatron into the darkness of death if that happened.
Not that he would ever admit that to Megatron.
Feeling content, Soundwave reduced his awareness to only the necessary of functions and drifted on the currents of information he would pick up from burgeoning civilizations as he passed through their electromagnetic transmissions.
