Alone.
That was what we were.
But, because of Him, we aren't anymore.
That's why we slaughter unworthy maggots like you.
So pray, beg, and cry to your impotent god because it'll take more than that to stop us.
Looking up from his paper work at the four shinobi, for that is what they truly were, in front of him. And, as he looked at them, he wondered. He wondered, time and time again, what he'd done.
You see, ten years ago he created a team. This team was a group consisting of an experienced ANBU taichou and three young trainees. They were to be the elite of the elite, Konoha's very own ultimate weapon, but most importantly they were to be family. These four consisted of:
Uzumaki Naruto, six years old and already with blood drenched hands. The Jinchuuruki no Kyuubi no Kitsune, the boy was driven form the orphanage, abused and hated. He'd been beaten, shunned, and the target of numerous assassin attempts. Alone, even in crowds.
Uchiha Sasuke, six years old and the only survivor of the Uchiha massacre. Last loyal sharingan user in Konoha and the love of the people. Filled with hate and on his own.
Hissori Chihen, eight years old with eyes far older. Only surviving experiment of one Kushou Ukime, an insane kunoichi nuke-nin who had kidnapped and experimented on fifteen new born babes, and blood soaked assassin. Returned to Konoha at the age of seven and rejected by all.
Hatake Kakashi, eighteen years old and heavy with loss. Son of the disgraced Hatake Sakumo, The White Fang, and prodigal student of the deceased Yondaime Hokage. Veteran of the Third Great Shinobi War and guilt ridden over the death of Uchiha Obito. Survivor of the Kyuubi Attack and witness to the last minutes of Inuzuka Rin. Utterly and completely alone.
Ten years ago they were four people thrown together. Now they were the deadliest team of nin in the entirety of the Elemental Nations and fanatically loyal to him, the Sandaime Hokage.
So, sometimes he wondered. Other times it just wasn't worth the headache. After all, he didn't even want to begin to try to imagine what they would have turned out like had they not had eachother. The thought made him shudder.
A/N: I'm in a odd mood, so yeah. This will probably stay a one shot just so you know. Writing a multi-chapter story is hard. Espaecially for me. I'm flighty at the best of times. Ja ne.
