The First Piece

"Happy birthday, boys!" Master Splinter finished singing to his four turtles and placed their birthday cake in the middle of the table in front of all four of them.

The four turtles, at once, took a deep breath and then let it out blowing out all the candles at once. They were officially eight-years-old.

"Can I have the first piece?" Mikey jumped up and down in his seat.

"The birthday boy gets the first piece." Raph tried to trick his brother, trying to make him believe Raph deserved the first piece.

"We're all the birthday boys." Donny stated, confused.

"But I'm the oldest," Leo smiled. "So I get to have the first piece."

"Aw, nuts!" Raph pouted.

Mikey frowned. "Then that means that I get the last piece…"

"Technically," Donny rose his finger in the air, as a gesture to let everybody know that he was speaking. "Master Splinter will get the last piece because he isn't one of the birthday boys."

Mikey face lit up. "Oh! That's right!"

Master Splinter looked side to side from one son to the other. "Okay," He lifted both of his hands in the air to quiet his sons down. "I will cut four pieces of cake out and then give them to each of you at the same time."

Leo, Mikey, Raph, and Donny exchanged approving glances at each other and nodded to Master Splinter. Master Splinter smiled and cut out the first piece, putting it on a plate and then began to cut out the second piece.

"I call that piece!" Raph pointed to the first one.

Master Splinter paused and looked at Raph. "I have not even finished cutting out all four of the pieces, yet."

"I know," Raph lowered his arm. "But that one is technically the first piece. You cut it out first."

"No fair!" Mikey shouted.

Master Splinter rolled his eyes. "You boys will get whatever piece I give you, understood?"

Mikey stuck his tongue out at Raph from across the table.

Raph slid down in his seat and glared at his little brother. "Shut up."

"Michelangelo. Raphael." Master Splinter glanced at one son and then the other.

"Sorry." The two of them muttered.

Master Splinter finished cutting out all four of the pieces of cake. He took two pieces in both of his hands and handed them both to Leo and Donny. Then he picked up the other two pieces and handed them to both Mikey and Raph.

"You gave Donny the first piece!" Mikey whined.

"He did?" Donny wasn't paying attention to which piece was the first one or last. He smiled at his cake. "Yay!" He took a bite, still smiling. "Yum."

Mikey and Raph both glared at their brother, who was rubbing it in without even realizing it, while Leo sat quietly and ate his own cake.

Master Splinter put the cake back into the refrigerator, ignoring them. "Happy birthday, boys."

The End.
