Prologue
The clunking sound of heavy boots resonated along the empty, dimly lit corridor as a soldier in dark green armor walked passed numerous doors that lead to different rooms.
He stopped at a door marked 'Control Room' and tapped in a series of numbers on a security pad at the side. The door slid open with difficulty and revealed a console in clear disrepair. The soldier sat down at the console and inserted a small storage drive. A whirring static noise filled the room as a black screen flickered to life only to display white noise. In between screeches of static the voice of a woman could faintly be heard.
"Thi... is... A...l loggi.. in for the... inal t... ime..."
The soldier fiddled with the settings on another window on the touch screen and the audio became slightly clearer.
"... Dec... if you're lis... tening to this mess... age then it means... I'm no longer around... The... too ...owerful for me to control. So the ne... xt ...ime you see me... you'll have to kill me ...fore it kills you. I'm sorry to put you of all... eople in this posi...tion but you're the only person I trust now. I know... ca... ...ount on you. I have t... go. G... bye. Age... rl, sighing off...
The screen turned black and silence fell upon the room yet again. A few minutes had passed before the soldier brought up a window displaying '5:00' and tapped a button to activate a countdown. Without hesitation he rose from the chair and made his way out of the room and back along the corridor.
Surrounded by mountains the soldier stood at a distance outside of the base watching and waiting, and in a few short seconds the loud din of an explosion echoed and chunks of stone and metal were thrown high in the air and came crashing back down again.
After the ruckus had settled, he lifted his arm; a small device in his hand, and pushed a button on top.
Another explosion burst out, from high on the cliff, and another, and another. Each bang triggering another along the face of the mountain.
Large rocks tumbled down onto the burning wreckage of the base completely submerging it in earth, never to be seen again.
The soldier, satisfied with his work, turned his back to the mess and walked away.
