Glee: Tombstone
Finn hates it when people cry.
Not because he doesn't like tears, but because he doesn't know what to do, does he hug them, ask them what's wrong or stay away from them. So he just decides to avoid putting himself in situations where someone may cry around him, it's Sam's mother's birthday and which is why Finn tied a note to the bunch of roses in Finn's writing. ( Happy birthday, your son is an ausome friend, I can't imagine how amazing you must've been),
Sam doesn't read it. Although he did expect there were going to be tears. he wasn't looking forward to them.
But this was Sam, and he wasn't going to turn his best friend away. he puts his hands in his pockets when Sam puts the red roses onto the grave and then stands up again. But when Finn notices the quiver in the blonde's deep breath, he puts his arm around Sam's shoulder, his hand resting on Sam's upper arm and makes another step of comfort by rubbing little circles with his thumb. Just staring at her name. (Cynthia Evans) and her birthday until Sam can't stand it. Turning away and throwing his arms around Finn and hiding his face in Finn's shoulder. His shoulders shaking with now audible sobs.
''I miss her, Finn'' Sam sobbed. ''I miss her so much''. Shattering Finn's heart as he listened to Sam pour out his heart and talk about his mom with that vulnerable, broken tone. But he knows that Sam just wants him to listen.
So he does. Finn rests his cheek against Sam's blonde hair and sometimes whispers words of comfort into Sam's ear.
The tears have started to fall down Sam's cheeks now and Finn realises how upsetting it is to lose the person who brought you into this world and gently tightens his hold on Sam. To let him know that he's listening.
''I know you miss her, Sam and it's ok to still feel upset by it'' Finn finally said.
Sam takes another deep breath and another tear rolls down his cheek.
And Finn wonders if Sam can feel his heart quicken in pace. Somewhere, Cynthia Evans was smiling.
