Prompt: Dance
"Oh come on!" Rose practically whined. "It's a ballroom, in the TARDIS!"
"This body doesn't Dance, Rose! Even my last incarnation couldn't do most of them!"
"I never said you had to be good." Rose countered, murmuring with a sigh, "Come on, just for a bit?"
It was the Doctor's turn to sigh, "Rose, I'm calibrating the 8th dimension power steering."
"Yeah, well, at least you're not resonating concrete."
"Now, that was life-or-death!" The Doctor says defensively, waving the sonic at her before turning back to the console.
"Exactly! We're safe, floating in space, all the time in the universe, and you're trying to find excuses to not dance with me." Rose crosses her arms, doing a very good impression of her mother.
The Doctor winces, sighing and running a hand through his hair, obviously on the edge of giving in. "Please?" At her simple word, he looks up. Bad idea. He can never say no to her, especially with that innocent hope in her eyes. "Oh, alright. But I've got to get back to this in an hour!" He adds, trying not to concede too much. She didn't even hear the last bit, as she was bouncing and clapping happily, smiling brighter than the sun and looking for all the world like a kid at christmas. He sees that and doesn't really mind the fact she missed it. Seeing her excited makes him smile without fail. "Come on, then!" She says, taking his hand and pulling him to the new room she discovered.
The Doctor hums softly as soon as he's inside. He's seen some fantastic rooms, but even the simple places in the TARDIS never cease to amaze him. Music starts to play and he looks up to see Rose turning from the sound system. Frank Sinatra starts crooning from the excellent surround sound.
She walks to the center of the room, holding out her hand to invite him over. He grins, walking over and pulling her easily into a waltz position. As soon as the beats circle back to 1, he moves, dancing perfectly in time to the music, twirling and leading her around the floor. She moves gracefully with him, responding to his every hint and touch, letting him lead. He sees her do a particularly beautiful turn with a look of complete bliss on her face, cheeks slightly pink, and he can't help but grin.
Soon the song end, and they're left glowing in each other's arms, just grinning at each other. The moment doesn't last long, a second later a foxtrot comes on and they're moving again. Soon bright laughter joins the music and several hours later they finally collapse onto a couch at the corner of the room, both laughing happily and glowing slightly pink from the exercise.
"So. Calibrating." Rose says, smirking up at him knowingly.
He hums in mock thought for a moment before smiling back at her and conceding, "Well… It can wait."
