The Beginning
She was three. This is the first time she remembers being locked in the closet. She had been a bad girl as her Aunt Cathy put it.
She hadn't meant to be bad. She just wanted to look as pretty as Aunt Cathy. So she got into Aunt Cathy's make up. She knew she wasn't supposed to be in her rooms, but she couldn't resist. She just wanted to look as pretty as her aunt and get the attentions that she got. Lucrezia always felt invisible. She just wanted for someone to notice her.
She had messed up the white counter top in the bathroom with reds, golds, and purples as she made herself up. She just wanted to be pretty and be noticed. Aunt Cathy found her there covered in the reds, golds and purples. Aunt Cathy said she should turn her red, gold and purple, but instead she was going to lock her away. Lock her away so that she could learn her lesson, however long it took her to learn her lesson. Aunt Cathy wouldn't mar her pretty flesh she said. She needed to look happy and healthy so Aunt Cathy would continue to get her check every month.
She was three when she was first locked away by herself for what felt like days. Days of loneliness, days of only water and bread crumbs, days of crying. She was three when she was first locked away. And she was three when she first saw her dark haired savior. The beautiful angel with the dark curls, hazel eyes and troubled soul who would save her as she would save him.
