Faces of Death

Battling for life,

Battle of honor

Leaving empty corpses

Fighting for

A lost cause.

Your honor is lost;

Dare you face the cost

Of being lost

To Death, the foe

That has been fought

By many, strong and weak

Death takes them all

Shall we always fall?

Has Death killed our

Hope at long last?

It has become a tower

Tall and fearsome, cast

In iron and metal.

'Death take us all!'

They shout, unknowing

Of their yielding to

The thought, the going

Of Death, who slew

The strongest, the finest,

The weakest, the innocent.

I, for one, dared to stand

Up to Death, and now I lay

Among the cold corpses,

Among the bitter tears. They say

About the strong heroes, "Always

Shall we remember them.

Always we shall sing songs,

Tell tales about their heroic honor."

I lost honor, I lost hope, I lost

Common sense. I stood up to Death.

And, undoubtedly, lost.

And now I lay among the cold corpses,

The many faces of Death.

A/N: I posted two new things today! Double bonus because I haven't updated in so long. So far, this poem is my favorite I've ever written, I hope you enjoy as much as I did. It was very fun to write. Please review!
