Author's Notes: This is one of three fanfics of mine that never made it to the net at all. One is my first fic that will probably never make it to the net all all while the other is also another poemfic that I never finished. That one might get posted haven't decided yet. Anyone that knows me, knows I love the rain. It was a rainy day when I wrote this. I wrote it on a whim. Don't know why I never put it up before but hey I'm doing it now. ^^
Rhythm of Rain
A Nightly Lullaby
By Relm
Soft patters of rain splash down on the earth. On the trees, on the leaves, in the puddles and on the ground.
Soft little patters that play their symphony to their own rhythm with no man to tell it how to play, music only weaved by the power of nature.
Such majestic beauty everything sparkles pure and clean. Amidst the falling rain seven tired travelers take refuge under a tree in a forest where magic is forgotten. Caught in nature's little symphony they huddled to stay warm.
The shrine maiden snuggles up to her shining knight a swordsman who though is half sleep response to her gentle touch keeping her close and warm. Keeping her safe, protected.
The little princess who had been tired from the travel had fallen asleep before was kept warm without her knowledge by the monster's cloak and embrace. A priestess who also sleeps is unaware of that same monster that embraces her as well. Both women on either side of the man they both thought of evil.
The monster smiled deviously in his sleep only dreaming of the little princesses and the golden priestess. What their reactions would be.
All were being lured into the spell of sleep but the fiery haired sorceress stared out to the rain. The calming allure of the rain was hypnotizing. Having the power to purify all past woes and ill thoughts and calm even the most raging hearts.
Oh she longed to walk in the rain and let it wash away everything. The chill was the only thing keeping her back, but even that could not stop her desire. She leaped out and danced in the rain.
A mystified chimera only watched her entrancing dance. His voice and body betrayed him and would not let him speak or move. He only watched her as if to do so would break the spell she had over him.
She danced to the symphony and the music that nature composed for her, letting herself be lost in the music and for the first time her life she felt so free.
The rain continues to patter and the fiery sorceress comes out of daze to feel the chill, the negative and harsh parts of the rain, or was it?
With her clothes dried off and surrounded in ivory she sighed contently and she drifted off to sleep to the lullaby of the rain that played in harmony with the beating of the chimera's heart which was beating in time with hers.
