Naruto – The Maelstrom Trainer

Alright guys, I thank you all for putting in your votes and even giving me some pleasant reviews and PM's about this story. Anyways, I am here for the first official chapter of this story, and the family that won the voting contest is... Cynthia and her family.

I was originally going to make Cynthia being the older sister to Naruto before I decided to let you guys have a vote for the family. Although, I am slightly annoyed that Cynthia has little sister and we have no information about her. Anyways, the typing will be kept a surprise for now, however, what I can say, is that both typings had an even number of votes, with about 26 each, counting from the last little poll before.

Pre-Story Note – I will be using the manga characters for some people, just because they are stronger and have good Pokémon.

Note – Please answer the question at the bottom of this chapter, it will mean a lot to me.

Note #2 – I am not the best writer, I will make mistakes, so please, point them out nicely and I will change them, Pokemon battling scenes may be mediocre at best, please don't place high expectations on me for this, I am only doing this for fun.

Chapter 1

In a small town in the Sinnoh region, a small child could be seen sitting alone near the fence line of the Solaceon Town Orphanage, a place where he could say he has been all his life. He was enjoying the sunshine beaming down on him, making his already bright blonde hair even brighter, making him look like a beacon if one were to see him.

This boy was Naruto Uzumaki, an unfortunate soul who lost his mother after her body shut down after birth, even if she was already sick with a disease that hardly anyone knew about, even the medical professionals hardly knew anything about it. He doesn't know his father, he has never met him, even though he doesn't know that he is deceased from a freak accident before he was even born.

He was about 5 years of age and had bright, spiky blonde hair, and some crystal blue eyes that could make even a sapphire jealous of its colour, while his face still held most of its baby fat, he did have a very interesting feature on his face, and that was his 6 whisker like markings on his face, three on each cheek. Some believed that they were birthmarks, others thought it was a genetic inheritance from someone in his family line from previous decades, maybe even centuries.

He wore a simple white T-shirt with a red Pokeball image on the front, and another smaller one on his back, just below the neckline, he also had some deep blue shorts and was barefooted. The skin that could be seen on him, one could tell that he spent more time in the sunlight rather than indoors, thanks to his lightly tanned skin, which further brings out his eyes and hair colour.

His attention right now was solely focused on some of the Pokémon that roam about near the orphanage, which was near the outskirts of the small town with a population of about 150 people.

Ever since he could remember, he has been absolutely fascinated by Pokémon of all shapes and sizes, and for some reason, some of the Pokémon also take in interest in him, whether it be a random Starly gliding down near him and chirping its name rather happily to him, or if it was a Combee, that sometimes mistook his bright hair for a flower and landed on it sometimes, only to be spooked when it found out he was not a flower, but a human.

He gained a small smile from that, of course they were mainly the only things that could make him smile genuinely, sure, he smiled a lot, but they were never real ones, mainly because he did it as a test to see if anyone would want to talk to him even more than what they did, however, that was very rare, only the caretaker would talk to him more, the others found him as weird, as the hair was bright. He was the only blonde in the orphanage after all, and he was the only one that would stay by himself for long periods of time, just watching the Pokémon stroll by, and not regularly participate in the other activities the kids did.

During his time at the orphanage, he watched many couples and sometimes even single men and women from different towns and cities come into the orphanage, with the caretaker leading them around and showing off the kids that were in the building and outside playing in the sandpit or even the small swing set. It happened maybe once or twice a fortnight and sometimes a lucky boy or girl, maybe even both at times will be taken by them and adopted, so they can live a new life, one away from the orphanage and be taken in and be treated like they were in the family themselves.

Naruto watched many kids go, he counted maybe over 8 kids in a couple of weeks, however, for some odd reason, no one ever wanted him. Parents didn't want a mature and quite child, one that kept to themselves, they wanted one that acted like a kid, and was excitable like a kid. Maybe it was because of parental instincts kicking in, and they wanted to be the ones to tell them right from wrong, scold them lightly when they did something wrong and praise them when they did a good job.

However, that will all change for him, and soon enough, he will get a family that he has always wanted.

N-TMT

Professor Carolina was having a mediocre day at best, her granddaughters were off and about doing their own things, Cynthia was still being a child, despite being at the age of 10, she still hasn't officially begun her journey as a trainer, she said that she wants to have more fun before going on a journey. However, Cynthia's little sister, she hasn't heard much from her at all, she can't even remember her name as that is how long it has been since she has last visited or called for that matter.

Despite being in her late 60's, Carolina still has a relatively healthy lifestyle, with her living in a small and peaceful town of Celestic Town, which also happens to be one of the oldest towns still standing in Sinnoh, but it also has some nice ruins and a beautiful climate, sure it gets a little foggy, but at least it brings some nice chill to the normally sunny town. It also had a few ruins about, which she likes to study, along with Cynthia, who also wants to be an archaeologist, along with being a Pokémon trainer.

Professor Carolina stands at a height of 5'5, with brown hair, aging into grey hair that goes down to her neck, with two large bangs that part in a small triangle shape at the front. She has relatively pale, wrinkled skin showing her age and has storm grey eyes, filled with wisdom and mirth.

She wears a necklace securely around her neck with gems in it, she also wears a white long-sleeve lab coat that ends at her knees, underneath she wears a bright pink shirt that has a black accessory running around her navel, along with a darker shade of pink, nearing purple shin-length skirt, to top it all off, she wears dark grey heeled shoes, with a small heel, giving her a little extra height.

The reason why she was in Solaceon Town was because of the rather large cave that it has, one that is still filled with mysterious and a archaeologists dream of completing the puzzles surrounding it, however, she was on the way to the orphanage to visit her friend, who was one of the caretakers of the young children of the place.

Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath of air that was carried by the slight breeze travelling through the town. She truly did enjoy the nature of the region, if the ruins were outside rather than inside, it made it even better, she let a small smile grace her face as she opened her eyes once again, seemingly with more energy than before she quickened her pace to her location.

Carolina let a sigh of relief out once she stepped inside of the orphanage, mainly because of the air conditioner blasting at full blast, with the cool air washing over everything in its range, it was refreshing.

The inside of the building definitely looked larger on the inside than it looked on the outside, the walls had some simple baby blue and darker blue wallpaper, with wooden floorboards on the ground that had some scratches, but other than that, they looked completely fine. The windows of the building were large and square, with two planks of wood separating them into four smaller squares. They were large enough for Carolina to see the outside playground and more kids outside running about, although, she did see one bright yellow colour near the fence line, though she shrugged it off, thinking it was a Pokémon.

As she let her small moment of peace wash over her, she then blinked a couple of times, before moving her head side to side, watching as many young boys and girls, maybe ranging from the ages of 5 and 7 running about and laughing merrily and acting without a care in the world, with their small footfalls resounding in the room with a slight echo, breaking the small silence.

'I guess the motto for this town really is 'Free of Worry'.' Carolina thought to herself, a small smile on her face, one that quickly turned into a small frown. All these kids, all here without parents due to either them passing, or just them not wanting them. While it is sad to see or hear about, at least they were happy in this place.

"Ah, Carolina!" Another aged voice called out, taking her attention away from the kids running around to where she heard the voice call out. As she turned around, she had another smile on her face as she watched one of her friends walking up to her, with a small baby in her arms and feeding the baby girl with a small bottle filled with milk.

"Lucy, great to see you again." Carolina said, giving a small nod to her old friend, who was also the caretaker of the younger kids of the orphanage.

Lucy was an aged elderly woman, about in her early 60's. She had pale skin with wrinkles showing her age and wore rounded glasses, with her eyes seemingly sparkling in a soft, chocolate brown colour. She also walked with a small hunch, making it look like she had something wrong with her back.

She wore a light grey blouse with floral designs on them and a black accessory running across the navel, and the blouse ended at her knees, with some pale leggings for some extra warmth on her skin, she was also wearing simple black shoes.

Lucy let out a small giggle, as she felt the small and delicate fingers try and wrap around her pointer finger. She looked down and saw the small baby girl, who looked to be under a year old, looking at her, with her big hazel eyes. Lucy rocked the small baby in her arms gently, watching with a small smile on her face as she watched the baby soon fall asleep under the ministrations.

"I see you are still great with kids, even after all these years." Carolina said, a pleased expression on her face knowing her friend hasn't changed much even after all these years and hardships.

"Of course, when I came into this job, I vowed that I will do everything in my power to have these kids grow up and have a normal childhood." Lucy said, the determination still in her voice from all those years ago. She then sighed and looked down, tears nearly brimming her eyes. "It's a shame that so many children are placed into orphanages around Sinnoh, even in other regions." She murmured, loud enough for Carolina to hear and nod at that herself.

"I know, sometimes I wonder what goes through the minds of new parents when they do this to children." Carolina said with some heat in her voice. "If you are not ready for a kid, don't be an idiot and use protection." She said on a side note, she really did wish that young couples today actually listened to the older generation about these things, then there would be less orphans in the world.

"True, anyway, it's time I place this little one in her crib. Do you want to join? Maybe even have an interest in adopting one of the kids here?" Lucy asked, a small hopeful expression on her face, from either wanting her friend to adopt a child, or maybe from just joining her and catching up on old times.

"Sure, although maybe not the latter option." Carolina replied with a small shrug of her shoulders, maybe if the child really caught her interest, then she may adopt him or her, after taking time to learn or talk to them of course.

"Alright then, please. Follow me." Lucy said, shifting the small baby girl in her arms for herself to be more comfortable and placing the small baby bottle on a desk, before leading down one of the halls that were where the children from before ran down, probably to their rooms.

As Carolina followed her old friend, who she has known for well over thirty years, as they went to the same University in Goldenrod City in the Johto region. As she was tagging along, she witnessed more of the orphanage, sure there wasn't that much to write about, however, it was a multiple story building, with the older the children got, the higher up they were in the building, with the young kids at the bottom floor, as they were younger and less mature and were more reckless, so they were away from the stairs to prevent them from getting injured.

As they went in a room that was near the middle of the hallway on the first floor, Lucy gave the small baby to Carolina to hold, which she took as she knew that Lucy needed to open the door.

"Thank you." Lucy said, flashing a small smile, which showed two teeth missing from her mouth and took the baby back from her friend. Once she did, she entered the room, by opening the door and showing the room to have half light pink, almost cream wallpaper and half of the other side being baby blue in colour.

Carolina took a longer look and saw that the room, while small in scale, was enough to fit in a couple of windows and had multiple cribs in the room, some filled with sleeping babies, the others were empty, signifying that they were either adopted or they were out and about in the building complex with the other caretakers.

After a couple of minutes waiting, Lucy finally made her way out of the baby room, and gently closed the door, letting a small sigh of relief escape her mouth.

"Stressful isn't it?" Carolina stated, observing how it must take a lot of energy to look after a small baby. In a way, she hasn't experienced it in many decades.

"Yes, it is. In case you were wondering, the baby room is in the middle of the first floor so that the other little ones can look after them if they so wish. Sometimes even the bigger kids take turns in looking after them." Lucy explained, as she gave the unspoken question about the room placement to her friend.

Carolina nodded her head at that. "I'm guessing no one really appreciates that responsibility?" She said playfully, not really expecting any kid to have a good bond with young children, they could be a pain in the ass sometimes.

Lucy shook her head. "Actually no. We do have one boy who enjoys the responsibility."

A surprised expression made its way onto Carolina's face, she really didn't expect that answer. The expression on her face was easily caught by Lucy as she giggled a bit at the normally stoic and serious person like her caught like this.

"I take that you want to know more about him?" Lucy said in a near teasing tone, one that didn't quite fit an elderly lady.

Carolina just nodded dumbly, still trying to wrap her head around the previous statement.

"Well, I can tell you some things about him." Lucy said, as she gestured for her old friend to follow her.

"Wow." Carolina said, in a mixture of amazement and a little curiosity beginning to swell in her mind.

"Mhm. He is a sweet boy." Lucy said with a small smile on her face, although that soon fell into a frown, something that Carolina caught.

"Something the matter, Lu?" Carolina asked, using her old nickname for her friend.

Lucy looked conflicted for a moment, before finally sighing, and looking towards Carolina with a saddened look on her face. "I'm afraid that with Naruto, he might not get adopted." She murmured to herself.

"Eh? Why, he seems like a great boy, already really helpful and caring. He should have been adopted ages ago." Carolina said in surprise, and in shock at how someone as caring as the young 5-year-old boy hasn't been adopted yet.

"It's because the people that come looking to adopt these children want someone, they can teach the ropes of things. However, with Naruto, he already knows most of the important lessons." Lucy said with a bitter smile, before she looked back to Carolina and finished her statement. "I guess Naruto is unlucky, he has nearly completely given up on getting adopted, instead, he wants everyone else being adopted before him... even if it means he gets no family to call his own."

Now, Carolina was really in shock about this boy who she recently learned about, how can someone be so selfless and caring to others, allowing himself to be left behind on the adoption days just so everyone else can get adopted before him... even helping her friend with taking care of the babies. He truly was someone with a pure heart and bright personality... maybe even Arceus himself noticed it and set some good things up for him as repayment for his actions.

"I've decided-" Carolina stated, placing her hand on Lucy's shoulder and giving her a look of determination. "-Take me to him, I want to see him for myself." She said.

Lucy gave a soft smile to her friend, and mentally prayed to Arceus himself to allow Naruto to let the opportunity to allow himself to open up to her friend, and finally get adopted. He deserved more than this, he deserved to be in a family that loved him to the very end.

"Alright, follow me." Lucy said, excitement barely held back in her voice as she grabbed Carolina by the wrist and basically dragged her through the building. She did have some scary strength for an old lady.

END CHAPTER

Alright guys, I hope you enjoyed this chapter, and with the votes for the family, they were awfully close, so as a reward for that, because people were so into the options for family and even the types. I have decided that I will do mirror stories like this one with the other options, so Korrina and Sabrina can have their time as a Bro-con and Naruto having different types.

Please favourite, follow and review. No flames please.

Author Question – If you haven't noticed, I am not that great with story titles, so can you please come up with one for the Korrina and Sabrina Mirror Stories? That would be greatly appreciated, please have it something to do with the style in which Naruto grows up as.
