She feels like a disgrace as she gets off the stool and faces the stares of the family. It wasn't supposed to be her, is all she can think as she walks on shaky legs. It wasn't supposed to be her. It was supposed to be Roxanne or Albus or Molly or Dominique, they were the ones that were supposed to get off that stool and feel the embarrassment of not being where they're supposed to be.

But it's her and she's humiliated beyond belief because it's wasn't supposed to be her. She was supposed to be the happy one, the one decked out in red and gold, the one that made the Quidditch team in second year and became captain, the one that was prefect and maybe Head Girl.

Lily doesn't feel guilty, she didn't do anything wrong after all, she feels something much worse then guilt that she can't put her finger one. She feels like a horrible person as she sits there and watches the others eat, happy to be where they are right now, as her brothers stare at her from two tables across. She bows her head and plays with the food that's somehow been put on her plate without her noticing.

"You should eat, little Potter," a voice says in her ear.

She looks up into his eyes and sees a look that's similar to the one her brothers are giving her at the very moment. But his eyes are softer, gentler, and he's smiling a little. He pities her, she knows it, but she doesn't care. "I'm not supposed to be here," she tells him, voicing the thoughts that have been running through her head since the Hat had made its decision.

"I know," he replies. "But this," he nods towards her brothers, "Is a scandal. A Potter in Slytherin? It's unheard of, really. This moment, right here, this moment is infamous. Think about it, little Potter, you're unique now. Isn't that what everybody wants, to be unique?"

"Well…" She has to think about it because she does want to be different but she wants to be the same as well. She doesn't want to feel like a disgrace wherever she goes; she doesn't want to have to put up with the taunts. But this boy, Scorpius Malfoy, is right. She's infamous now and there's nothing that can stop her, not even the humiliation she felt only moments ago. "I guess."

He smiles at her, a grin she thinks she might be able to get used to. "I always thought the colour green went much better with red hair, anyway."

Lily smiles back. She's a Slytherin, but maybe being a serpent won't be as horrible as she always thought it was.

Stupid and random, but it'll have to do... I don't actually believe that Lily Luna Potter would be a Slytherin, but hey, it works.
