There was a corridor on a space station. In this corridor was marine sergeant Arcturus Sheirer and the other survivors of their pod.
Arcturus thought, 'now hear I am, running around in an alien corridor. This could have gone so much better, first we land and get ambushed. Then there goes the el tee with his stupid heroics.' And with that the piece was shattered once more by the whizzing blue bolts.
Kylee Raynor wondered many of the same thoughts as the sergeant who seemed quite frazzled to her. She swung her arm around the corner and fired off a few shots and was rewarded with a high pitched scream.
Arcturus lifted his assault rifle and stood up while turning and unleashing the full automatic fury of the 7.62mm armor piercing rounds. And at the same time cursed the fact that the only other survivors were technicians. Sure they had really powerful handguns. But only one of them was actually bothering to fire back at their antagonists.
Tank repair specialist Molly Kerrigan was sitting in a corner mumbling uselessly something like we're gonna die over and over. She knew they were gonna die, just like all the others. That's why she became an engineer, to get away from the fighting…
Arcturus shouted, "Alright people move out! We fall back on three. Fire back at the aliens as we go! 1…2…3" and they did retreat, successfully, this time. Arcturus knew that luck was at its end, he was down to one grenade and 30 clips of AR ammo. With any other enemy this would have lasted days. With the covenant and their energy shields this was worth maybe one or two firefights.
Tallie Adun was the forth member of the survivors. First person through the door she was shocked to find a standing mirror that was placed inside of a rocky casing. It was so intriguing that she reached out to touch it "No!..." she touched it "don't touch the wacky alien decoration." And with that Tallie was gone, except that she was waving at them through the strange mirror. Arcturus reached out to touch her hand and vanished in a flash of light.
"alright then, in we go" stated Kylee as she grabbed the still incoherently babbling Molly and shoved her into the strange mirror like piece of decoration and said "and down the rabbit hole we go" she finished, going in after molly.
Massa Roromee charged into the room that the humans fled to swinging his sword for the glory of the gods. His massive blade swung true toward the last human and almost got her. Instead the blade of energy destroyed the quantum mirror.
