They were finally back. Well, "back" for Yuu, but still somewhere Mika despised because of the large amount of humans.
Mika sighed. It was nightfall and nightfall meant resting but the problem was that Mika had nowhere to rest in this wretched place.
Just like some of the times when Yuu actually payed close attention to Mika, Yuu had read his mind.
"You could sleep with me, just like the old times!" Yuu grinned at him.
Mika eye's widen slightly before returning to normal. "Yeah, but in the old times, you and I weren't so big."
"Don't sweat the small details, come on, let's go!" He replied, grabbing Mika's wrist and dragging him into the direction of his apartment*.
After Yuu ate (since Mika could no longer digest human food) and they took their showers to cleanse themselves of all the blood and guts, they headed to the bed.
Mika stared at it. And then stared at Yuu. "We are not going to get in there together it's definitely too sm-"
"Stop being a spoil sport and just get in!" Yuu shouted, pushing Mika down.
"Wait Yuu-chan! You shouldn't just shove people!"
"Whatever, just get in already!"
Mika spewed some incomprehensible sentences before slowly slipping under the blanket, back facing Yuu.
Yuu excitedly crawled in after him, facing Mik's back.
He shut his eyes and tried to sleep, but for some odd reason, he couldn't. He furrowed his brows. He was so exhausted on the way home, so why wasn't he now? He tired facing the other side, but that also didn't help. He glanced over at Mika's back again. It looked so small and lonely.
". . . Did the vampires provide you with a comfortable bed?"
There was a silent pause that made Yuu think that perhaps, Mika was already asle-
"The bed at the mansion was bigger. And more comfortable and luxurious."
Yuu felt his eyebrow twitch. "Oh? Is that-"
"But this bed's warm." He muttered, cutting the raven off. He tugged the blanket upper to cover more of his body.
Yuu closed his eyes, pretending not to have saw Mika's body shaking. He was pretty sure that the vampire didn't want to be seen so weak and vulnerable. But the raven couldn't resist placing his forehead on the blonde's back.
"Goodnight Mika, and sweet dreams."
Mika's body tensed before shaking even more than before.
"Goodnight Yuu-chan, sweet dreams to you too," he replied, voice brittle and hoarse.
That night, for the first time in a long, long time, they slept with a smile on their faces, finally at peace with their long lost family at their side.
