A/N: So while I'm typing this up, I really don't have access to the internet, I'm at my ex-best friend's house, I finished my homework, and I was just looking at pictures of me and my best friends, who I'm not allowed to talk to, and miss like hell. So, does anyone understand where this idea came from? Basically, this is me putting James in my situation… sort of. Anyway, what you need to know is this takes place while the Potters are in hiding from Voldemort. Before Pettigrew betrays them, obviously. Enjoy, and review, if you would be so kind.

Disclaimer: If I owned Harry Potter, Draco Malfoy would be a lot more heard from (and probably not such a prat) and secondary characters wouldn't be so secondary. Do you think I own this?

James flipped fondly through his pictures of him and his best mates. Some of the photos were wizarding, some muggle, but they were all special to him.

He snickered when he came to a picture of Sirius and himself using a spell to levitate an unsuspecting Snape up into a tree. They had gotten a week's worth of detention from McGonagall, but it had been worth it to see the look on his face as he was flung upside down and dumped onto the branch.

His face softened when the next picture he came upon was one of all of his best mates. Wormtail was in the center, looking quite surprised to be suddenly caught in the middle, but grinning shyly none the less, he and Padfoot had their arms slung around each other's shoulders, and Moony was on Peter's other side, grinning tiredly at the camera. He set that one aside and looked on to the next one.

He remembered this one. He and Sirius had been planning another prank on Filch, when Peeves had shown up and loudly called the caretaker's attention to them. Remus had had his camera with him and had taken a picture of the two being hauled by the collars of their shirts to the Headmaster's office.

The rest of the pictures were mostly random pictures, of things such as the boys pulling funny faces and pictures that were blurry, so no one could tell what they were of. But they all were counted precious by James, who hadn't been able to see his friends all that often. He sighed, coming to the last picture, before turning off the light and lying down next to his wife. Lily was already fast asleep. He brushed away an auburn lock that had fallen into her face while he contemplated.

Because of the prophecy saying that their son might be the cause of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's downfall, Dumbledore believed it would be safer for them to go into hiding. Snape had passed on that You-Know-Who was planning on getting rid of the problem himself. James and Lily had agreed to go into hiding to protect Harry.

Because of this however, even though Sirius was their secret-keeper, their friends couldn't visit very often. Remus and Sirius visited as often as they could, (Peter was too cowed by the fact that they had You-Know-Who after them) but they still couldn't visit often. If the neighbors noticed, they might think that something was up. And if there was a Death Eater hiding in Godric's Hollow, or a spy of Voldemort's, then they would begin to suspect their hiding place. Simply put, they couldn't risk the suspicion that would arise if anyone was to visit too often. If they were able to apparate inside of the wards, they could have visited more.

James really missed his friends.

A/N: Yes, I realize that the ending sucks. If you have any suggestions, I'd be happy to hear them, and will edit accordingly. Also, if you guys really want this to keep going, I might. But otherwise, this will stay a one-shot.
