A thousand words.
A thousand different pieces of his life.
He carved them into the wall of his cell.
The names of the people he held close...
Descriptions of his favorite places...
Stories and poems...
His happiest memories were displayed for all to see.
And with that, his worst nightmares.
A thousand words were carved in stone,
Never to vanish again.
His captors - his torturers - never knew of them.
They never looked upon the walls - they only looked at him.
His mentor would have been so proud that he held onto his memories.
In a thousand words, he lived on.
