Impulsive

Parker couldn't believe she was about to catch him. Standing there watching Jarod scurrying to leave the dock in his speedboat. Getting ready again to evade her and the sweepers.
The sweepers she misdirected away from him.
She felt Broots and Syd running up behind her. She ignored them as she fixed her eyes on her Jarod.
She thought she understood her own theory of love. Don't love anyone. Don't let anyone into your heart. However, seeing her pretender again after all those years in Europe and Corporate blew that theory apart. She was falling in love with him all over again.
Now, her heart was racing upon watching him, recalling his features, his smile, his scent.
Parker thought it would be easy to bring him in but than to actually see him again and hear his voice, made her remember…
Drawing arrows through hearts, writing out her and Jar's initials, dreamy looks on her face about them, him carrying her to their home in the rain.
He awoke feelings in her that she thought were forever gone after Daddy told her horrible things about Jarod when she left for boarding school. Things she no longer believed anymore.
Suddenly, she knew what she had to do. She wasn't going to think about it or analyze it.
Her mind told her to take it slow. Too hell with being slow.
Her heart told her don't say no to what she was feeling. Be spontaneous, be reckless.
"Here," shoving her gun into a startled Broots' hands. "So long, Broots."
Facing an equally shocked Sydney, she quickly kissed him on the cheek. "Bye, Syd."
Kicking off her high heels, she ran down the dock towards her man.
Running as if her life depended on it. It is, she thought, seeing him getting closer to her with every step. A new life.
"Wait for me, Jar!" yelled Parker, dark hair streaming away from her face.
Jarod had the last line cast loose when he heard her voice. She saw him looked up to see her racing towards him.
Fear was evident on his face but then noticing how she look, uncertainty appeared. Hope flared in his lively brown eyes as she called out to him, "You're not running away without me!"
She leaped into the boat, trusting Jar to catch her. He did.
Without warning, she did the unexpected. She kissed him.
Fully. Deeply. Searingly.
The world disappeared for them at that moment. Both were lost in the kiss.
The rest of the world came crashing back on them when they heard the shouts of the sweepers.
Looking over her shoulder, Parker saw Sam and Willie leading the sweepers. Shifting her blue eyes to Jarod, she ordered him, "Let's go."
Smiling hugely, "I'm glad you could join me," he turned towards the controls and got the speedboat moving rapidly away.
"What is she doing?" demanded Sam, gasping after the long wild goose chase.
"Being impulsive, Sam," answered Sydney poker-faced, though his eyes were beaming. Watching them sail off into the sunset, he repeated, "Being impulsive."
A/N: This songfic was inspired by the Wilson Phillips hit "Impulsive". When I listen to this song, I imagine Parker say to hell with Daddy and the Centre and join Jarod. Oh, living happily ever after, too! Lol…
