"Come on, Rose! We're going fishing!" The Doctor grinned widely and opened the TARDIS doors. Rose groaned, but smiled nonetheless and followed him outside. The land was bushy and looked rather ordinary and dull; if Rose hadn't have known better, she would've said they were on Earth. She could hear a river flowing somewhere to her right, and hoped that the fish here weren't too exotic.

"I've been here a few times before," he told her as they walked along the river, looking for a good spot, "and I once caught this huge gumblejack - it was amazing! They are easily the best tasting fish in this sector - absolutely brilliant!" Rose smiled at his enthusiasm - she didn't really want to spend her afternoon fishing, but they had just gotten back from a trip to one of the biggest shopping centres in the universe, so Rose felt she owed the Doctor an afternoon. Rose looked up from her feet - the ground was slightly uneven - to see two people walking toward them. They hadn't noticed them yet, as they were busy in conversation, though it looked like the taller one was doing all the talking, while the shorter one was barely listening. As they got closer, Rose saw that the taller one was a man, wearing the oddest clothes she had ever seen - he wore a long coat that seemed to be a patchwork of every colour of the rainbow, mainly bright reds, oranges and yellows. This, coupled with his short, curly blonde hair reminded Rose a bit of a clown. The girl standing next to him was almost a complete opposite; she wore a t-shirt that was less of a t-shirt and more of a bikini top, with short shorts. Beside her, the Doctor stiffened, then groaned and muttered something that Rose was sure was some kind of curse.

"Hello there!" Called the man, noticing them for the first time.

"Hi!" Called back Rose, giving them a wave; the Doctor waved as well, just a slight, unenthusiastic wave. Eventually they were close enough to have a proper conversation.

"Hey!" Said Rose, smiling at the pair; they seemed harmless enough.

"Hi," said the girl, in a strong American accent, "What are you two doing?" She asked.

"We're fishing." Rose said, smiling away. "I'm Rose, and this is the D-"

"John Smith." Interrupted the Doctor, holding out his hand for the pair to shake.

"I'm Peri," Said the girl, "and this is the Doctor." The rainbow-jacket man smiled and nodded. Rose gaped at them. The Doctor? She thought. She looked over at her Doctor's uncomfortable face, then at the other Doctor, then back at her Doctor, and then she couldn't stop herself. She burst out laughing. The other Doctor and Peri looked at her like she had gone insane.

"You- it's, you're-" She tried, looking at her Doctor again. His face had gone ever-so-slightly pink, and he looked nervously at his Sixth self. "Your jacket!" She cried, grabbing her Doctor's arm to steady herself. "Oh God, how long did you dress like that!"

"Rose," said the Tenth Doctor, his voice high-pitched and whiny. "Rose, stop it! It's not that bad!" The Sixth Doctor frowned at them.

"Is she okay?" Asked Peri. Both the Doctors turned to look at Rose, who was still laughing.

"That's it Rose, we're leaving. No fishing today." He grumbled, grabbing Rose's arm and practically dragging her back toward the TARDIS.

"But you look ridiculous!" She said, poking her finger into his chest. "You- you're-" She tried to form a proper sentence, but couldn't.

"Sorry 'bout this, she's normally much better." The Doctor told his previous self. "Bye!" And with that, he dragged her off, echoes of her laughter slowly fading away.

"What was that?" Peri asked, looking up at the Doctor.

"I think," he said, frowning, "that one day I might understand." And that was all he would say on the subject.
