Boots ringing on the metal
My head turning in awe
So much technology
So much potential
So many possibilities
And one of those possibilities
A coincidental trip
A steadying hand
A pressed button
A flash of light
A strangled scream
An unbearable, indescribable, forever-remembered pain
Clockwork says it was always meant to be
That I was always meant to go into that portal
That I was always meant to die, but live
That I was always meant to become something in-between
That I was always meant to become Danny Phantom
That I was always meant to become a hero
I chose to walk into that portal;
And I will always choose to walk into that portal
All the lives saved
All the friends and lessons gained
Fighting for what is right
Fighting for what really matters
No matter what the cost
No matter how much the pain
I will always be the hero

A/N: A few nights ago I couldn't sleep, and what do you know- this was born.
I've written a few poems before, so I hope that this one wasn't too bad. I haven't really been a fan of reading any DP poetry here on Fanfiction, possibly because I'm more searching for new stories to follow, but in writing this I am actually thinking about reading some to see if anyone has come up with something really creative. :)
How many people thought this was going to be about something completely different when they read the title and summary? Because I could imagine some people thinking that this was going to be about Danny and Sam, or something. Also, does anyone get the reason why I put "I promise" in quotations? Bonus points if you guess right! (That means you should review!) I would like to know your opinion/reaction. What did you like or not like? What could I improve on, in terms of relaying the themes and meanings to you, my audience?
